Several years ago I went on a day trip to Washington Island, Wisconsin. Pictured above is a bruilding used to dry lavendar. You can see the lavendar field behind the building.
Washington Island can only be reached by ferry. They have several beaches, a campground, and many interesting sites you can visit.

This is a church in the same style as the other building for drying lavendar.

These are limestone rocks. It’s illegal to take these rocks from the island. It’s a $250 fine.

This is one of the many interesting sights.

This is me. My friend who came with me took this picture at the site where we stayed a few years before. You can see the size and shape of the island.

On our first trip to Washington Island we climbed this tower with a view of the entire island. This was in October of 2016. Fall colors were at peak and beautiful.

We spent three days on the island and enjoyed everything the island offered. The lodge where we stayed had a full kitchen, so we went shopping.

This is my friend in front of one of the restaurants which doubled as a museum.

This was a schoolhouse at one time. It’s a museum now.

This is a dune beach. One of the many beaches we visited during our three day stay on the island.

Washington Island is known for its lavendar fields. This was on our second trip when the lavendar was in full bloom.
We had a wonderful time on the island and hope to return for another trip again, but we don’t know when our schedules will allow.

This is one of three ferries that took us to and from the island. It was sad to leave, but all good things must come to an end.
I hope you enjoyed this brief snapshot of the best vacation I had in a long time in both 2016 and 2020. Thanks for reading. I would love to hear what you think of the trip.
