Daily writing prompt
Have you ever unintentionally broken the law?

The short answer is no, I haven’t unintentionally broken the law.

However, according to God’s Word, I am the worst lawbreaker.

James 2:10 For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all. (NKJV)

That’s a heavy thought. I try to tell myself I’m an okay person. I obey the laws. I don’t even have a traffic ticket. I’m an upstanding citizen, helpful in every way. Yet God’s Word, says I’m guilty of every commandment in His Word. How can this be?

I heard a story about a Sunday school teacher who had the Ten Commandments written on a glass board. She asked a student to throw a rock at just one of the commandments. It couldn’t be done because in trying to break only one, the glass would shatter affecting every commandment written on the glass.

I’m guilty. No doubt about it. Every day, unintentionally, I do something to offend and bring shame to my life. I stand before God guilty of all charges. Yet, I have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ. He is my defense attorney. He approaches the bench on my behalf and advises the Judge that He already paid the penalty for my guilt and shame.

Every unintentional law I brake every day is covered by the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ because I accepted Him as my Savior and Lord.

Are you covered? Can you stand before the Judge guiltless?

The glass board is a great analogy! We are every one of us guilty. Thank God for the gift of His Son!
