They say you don’t know a person until you walk a mile in their shoes. Who would I want to be for one day? Whose shoes do I want to walk in? I don’t want to walk in anybody else’s shoes other than my own. Why? Because God didn’t give me someone else’s trouble. He helps me through my trouble.
Yes, there are many people I admire, but do I want to know the trauma of their lives? Do I want to experience their hardships? Does it mean I don’t empathize with them? No. God gives us experiences so we can empathize with each other, encourage each other, and let them know we will shoulder their burdens with them through prayer. I will walk beside my friends. I will be there for them in their troubles. I will help them as God enables me.
God gave me this life with all its hardships and burdens. I have enough trauma in my life to not want anyone to walk in my shoes, but to walk beside me, lift me up, and encourage me in the same way I encourage them in their times of need.
Now, if you were to ask me who I would want to be like. The answer is simple. I want to be like Jesus, my Savior. I want His empathy for people, His encouragement, His love. I want my life to be a living example of His love for me.
Thank you for reading. The image belongs to me – my shoes.
