Day 107 – Awe

Psalm 8:1 (To the Chief Musician. On the instrument of Gath. A Psalm of David.) O JEHOVAH, our Adown, how excellent is Your name in the whole earth, who set Your glory above the heavens!

2 Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You ordained strength, because of Your enemies, that You may silence the enemy and the avenger.

3 When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, the moon and the stars, You ordained, 4 what is man that You are mindful of him, and the son of man that You visit him?

5 For You made him a little lower than the angels, and You crowned him with glory and honor.

6 You made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands; You put everything under his feet, 7 sheep and oxen—even the beasts of the field, 8 the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea that pass through the paths of the seas.

9 O JEHOVAH, our Adown, how excellent is Your name on the whole earth!

God’s names:

JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal

Adown – Sovereign

Yeshuwa – Jesus

Elohiym – Supreme God

Logos – Divine Expression, Word

Theos – Supreme Divinity

God’s character:

Sovereign

What makes you stand in awe, makes you want to sing, makes you happy and joyful?

David couldn’t comprehend how much JEHOVAH loved him and cared about him to keep him safe from his enemies. Even when he considered creation, his mind was blown away with everything JEHOVAH did for mankind. He could only stand in awe of Him and try to put words to a song about JEHOVAH’S love for His creation.

How often do you think about Yeshuwa’s role in creation? How often do you think about creation? Science says the earth came from a speck of dust, and we came out of the primordial soup. Can you fathom such a notion?

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning Elohiym created the heavens and the earth.

Elohiym is plural, meaning the entire trinity was present during the creation.

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Logos, and the Logos was with Theos, and the Logos was Theos.

John 1:14 And the Logos became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

David thought about man’s role in JEHOVAH’S creation. JEHOVAH gave man dominion over everything He created. Mind-blowing when you think about it. Which is probably why scientists came up with another explanation for creation. They couldn’t fathom JEHOVAH either.

Then David considered mankind and realized JEHOVAH made man a little lower than the angels. Another mind-blowing concept. You are more important to Yeshuwa than the angels. Why? Because Elohiym put Himself in you.

Genesis 2:7 JEHOVAH Elohiym formed man of the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living being.

Man didn’t have life until JEHOVAH Elohiym breathed His life in him. He didn’t do that with the angels.

When you accepted Yeshuwa as Savior and Lord, He breathed His new life in you and dwells in you.

David couldn’t write the psalms and songs he did without JEHOVAH’S presence in his life. He couldn’t fight his battles without JEHOVAH going ahead of him into battle. David knew JEHOVAH was with him and gave him his strength.

When David considered creation, he stood in awe of everything JEHOVAH did. Do you stand in awe of Yeshuwa’s role in your life? Does it humble you and cause you to burst out with singing because you cannot contain His goodness?

If you were to sit and write every blessing Yeshuwa gives you every day, you would run out of paper. David penned JEHOVAH’S role in creation, it was enough to humble him and stand in awe of Him.

What brings you to the place of awe for Yeshuwa?

Let’s pray: Father, keep me humble when I consider everything You do for me. Let me know I can do nothing without You in my life. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
