Good afternoon from warm Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA. It’s 83 F right now.

I’m thankful I went for my morning walk when it was only 76F. That was warm enough for this person who prefers winter to summer.

First I want to tell you about my wonderful Mother’s Day, yesterday. I have so much to be thankful for.

I called my son as soon as I got home from church to let him know I was home. He told me he was on his way to pick up his girlfriend from work and then they would be here. There were six of us total for lunch. His girlfriend also had her mother, her boyfriend, and grandmother along. We all met at the restaurant. The food was fabulous!

Below, my son and his girlfriend with me last Christmas.

After the restaurant, his girlfriend took me, her mother, and grandmother to the Pottery Barn. You’ve seen my painted rocks. This time I painted a teapot. It will be ready to bring home in about a week after they put it in the kiln.

I finished the day at my son’s and his girlfriend’s apartment. I played a game of Yatzee with her grandmother, and his girlfriend. When her grandmother left, my son joined us in a game of Rummy. I didn’t get home until almost 8 PM. It was the absolute best Mother’s Day I ever had. I can’t wait to get the teapot home. I know you can’t really tell, but there are five different colors on the teapot.

Now for today. I’m thankful for my morning walk. I asked my friend to go with me to get her out of the house. She’s a homebody and doesn’t go out for most any reason. Only church and Bible study. Until recently her excuse for not stepping outside her apartment was her dog, Sam. Since she put Sam down a few weeks ago, leaving her apartment has been difficult. I succeeded today to get her to walk with me a short ways.

I’m also thankful I decided to go around the pond trail instead of the wooded trail. I thought it was a crane, but my friend told me it was a Great Blue Heron. I should have known that. It was the first of the large water birds I learned when I was younger, sitting in a boat with my father while he fished. I hope you can see it in the photo below.

I’m also thankful I went with my neighbor this morning as she needed to go to DMV to get her car registration renewed. I didn’t want her to forget as the notice showed she was past due for renewal. We only waited in line for an hour. She could take care of the renewal at the check in desk.

I’m thankful we then went to Costco. I needed bananas and a few other staples to hopefully make it to the end of the month, only two more weeks. I forgot what this Whole30 diet entailed. I’ve gone through a lot of fruit and vegetables in the first two weeks.

I’m thankful for the work I did on Firestorm after I got home from my walk. I think I got the timeline issue fixed and am ready to begin writing again.

It’s been a wonderful two days. I have my patio door open with how nice it is outside. The birds are chirping away.

What are you thankful for today? Let me know in the comments. Thanks for reading. The images belong to me.

What a special Mother’s Day! I have not played Yahtzee in so long, used to love it! And that tea pot is adorable 🙂
