Daily writing prompt
If you had to change your name, what would your new name be?

Shakespeare once said, “A rose by any other name would still smell as sweet.” It wouldn’t matter what I change my name to, I would still be the same person.

Throughout history, many people have changed their names. Monarchs, Popes, celebrities, biblical people had their name changed for them. Sometimes the name changed because their character changed. However, it didn’t change who they were.

If I needed to change my name, I would want my name to reflect the person I have grown to be in my Lord Jesus Christ. My name, Valerie, means bold, strong, valiant. I was none of those things until I accepted Jesus as my Savior and Lord. Then my name meant something more to me. I grew into it.

I know that one day, I will receive a new name, known only to Jesus. It will be written on a white stone and will reflect who I am in Him. What that name is I do not know, but I look forward to my new name, written down in Glory.

Revelation 2:17 “He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes I will give some of the hidden manna to eat. And I will give him a white stone, and on the stone a new name written which no one knows except him who receives it.”‘ (NKJV)

What name would you give yourself? Let me know in the comments below. Thanks for reading. The image belongs to me.
