Day 170 – Trust
Psalm 71:1 In You, O JEHOVAH, I put my trust; let me never be put to shame. 2 Deliver me in Your righteousness and cause me to escape; incline Your ear to me and save me. 3 Be my strong refuge, to which I may always resort; You gave the commandment to save me, for You are my rock and my fortress. 4 Deliver me, O my Elohiym, out of the hand of the wicked, out of the hand of the unrighteous and cruel man. 5 For You are my hope, O Adonay Y@hovih; I trusted You from my youth. 6 You upheld me from birth; You took me out of my mother’s womb. I will always praise You. 7 I became as a wonder to many, but You are my strong refuge. 8 Fill my mouth with Your praise and with Your glory throughout the day. 9 Do not cast me off in the time of old age; do not forsake me when my strength fails. 10 For my enemies speak against me; and those who lie in wait for my life take counsel together, 11 saying, “Elohiym forsook him; pursue and take him, for there is none to deliver him.” 12 O Elohiym, do not be far from me; O my Elohiym, make haste to help me! 13 Let them be confounded and consumed who are adversaries of my life; cover them with reproach and dishonor who seek my hurt.
14 However, I will always hope and will praise You yet more and more. 15 My mouth will tell of Your righteousness and Your salvation throughout the day, for I do not know their limits. 16 I will go in the strength of Adonay Y@hovih; I will make mention of Your righteousness, of Yours only. 17 O Elohiym, You taught me from my youth; and to this day I declare Your wondrous works. 18 Now also when I am old and gray-headed, O Elohiym, do not forsake me, until I declare Your strength to this generation, Your power to everyone who is to come. 19 Also Your righteousness, O Elohiym, is high, You who did great things; O Elohiym, who is like You? 20 You, who showed me great and severe troubles, will revive me again, and bring me again from the depths of the earth. 21 You will increase my greatness, and comfort me on every side. 22 Also with the lute I will praise you—and Your faithfulness, O my Elohiym! To You I will sing with the harp, O Qadowsh of Israel. 23 My lips will rejoice when I sing to You, and my soul, which You redeemed. 24 My tongue also will talk of Your righteousness throughout the day; for they are confounded, for they are brought to shame who seek my hurt.

Who do you trust to help you when you’re in trouble? Who is the first person you call?
The psalmist knew whom he could trust. He had trusted JEHOVAH since he came from his mother’s womb. He would not stop trusting him when his adversaries came against him. Instead, he put his hope in Elohiym to take care of his enemies, even in his old age. The psalmist knew Him as his redeemer, strong refuge, rock, and deliverer. He knew His power and glory because Elohiym had delivered him in times past and He would do it again.
When you accepted Yeshuwa as Savior and Adonay, you committed your life into His care. Yet, how often do you turn to Him when Satan comes against you? How often do you pray and seek His face when you become ill, financial trouble comes your way, you lose your job and livelihood? Do you trust Yeshuwa to bring you out of your troubles? You said you would, but do you? Too often you’re like the toddler who insists on doing things himself instead of letting you do it for him.
The psalmist knew where his help came from. Do you? The psalmist praised Elohiym and looked to Him in every circumstance. Do you?
Yeshuwa wants you to trust Him to take care of you. He wants you to pray and seek His face. When you do, He will come to your aid, get rid of the obstacles in your path, and make a way that before you prayed seemed hopeless.
What troubles has Satan brought against you? Trust Yeshuwa to take those troubles away and give you new hope.
Let’s pray: Father, I trust You. However, too often I try to take care of myself without Your help. I say You are my hope and strength and then try to fix things on my own. Today, Father, I set aside my attempts to fix things and place my life in Your hands. Today, I will praise You because You are my refuge and deliverer. Today, I will come against Satan with the power of Your Name and watch Satan flee from me. Today, I put Satan on notice because You are my refuge. In Jesus’ name, I will tear down every obstacle Satan put in my way and declare You are my hope. I place myself in Your hands. Take care of me as You promised because I trust You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
