Life pulls at us in so many directions we want to shut out the noise and find peace in the midst of turmoil. Turmoil is the breeding ground for those characteristics which cause bitterness and rivalry between even the best of friends. How do you live in harmony with other people? It isn’t easy, especially when you’re trying to put forward ideas that would help not hinder the situation. In those situations, you need to sit back and become quiet in your thoughts and in your actions.
The Bible says we are to seek peace, not only seek it, but pursue it.
Psalm 34:14 Depart from evil and do good; Seek peace and pursue it. (NKJV)
Romans 12:18 If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men. (NKJV)
In another Scripture, Paul states the characteristics you need to get rid of to live in harmony with one another.
Ephesians 4:29 Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.
30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.
31 Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice.
32 And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ forgave you. (NKJV)
When you practice peace and pay attention to your attitude with other people, you will find harmony in places you didn’t expect.
