Daily writing prompt
List three jobs you’d consider pursuing if money didn’t matter.

Money is a concern for everyone. In your younger days, living at home with your parents, you didn’t concern yourself with money concerns. Your playtime didn’t involve working for money to support anyone, including yourself.

What if you could return to those days when money wasn’t an issue and you didn’t need to concern yourself with bills. What jobs would you consider?

I would help people. There are volunteer jobs in every category of helping people. Hospitals are a good place for volunteer work. The Boys and Girls Clubs are another place you can help out. I’ve done both when I was between jobs and wanted to keep myself busy. Another place to consider for volunteer work is the Aging and Resource Center. Here it’s called the ADRC or Senior Center. Volunteers teach classes in art, exercise, music, and many other categories. My friend heads up rock painting, which is how I got involved in it. Another thing I could do and have done is read to children at the library.

Volunteer work is rewarding because you’re doing what you like without worrying about money. It’s relaxing and gives you a sense of doing something important for others with no strings attached. It also puts smiles on people’s faces. And that in itself is worth doing.

Sometimes we overthink how to give back but it can be as simple as reading to kids or helping out at a local center. Every little bit counts!
