Day 4 – Faithful
Proverbs 14:5 A faithful witness does not lie, but a false witness will utter lies. 6 A scoffer seeks wisdom and does not find it, but knowledge is easy to him who understands.
- God’s names:
- Yeshuwa – Jesus
- Iesous – Jesus
- Theos – Supreme Divinity
- God’s character:
- Faithful
- Wisdom
- Knowledge
- Understanding
People lie. It’s hard to find people who don’t. They are always out for their own gain. Loyalty and integrity are at a premium. People know those with integrity and honor in everything they do.
Solomon studied people. He knew those who lied and those who were faithful. He listened to the underlying current in what they said. Scoffers were easy to spot, they mocked everything and they were untrustworthy.
When you made the decision to follow Yeshuwa, what kind of person were you? Were you someone people looked up to because of your integrity, or were you untrustworthy? It’s hard to trust when you lived your life only trusting yourself. Turning your life over to Yeshuwa took courage and was the first step in your transformation.
Judas looked trustworthy. He was a disciple, and the one who betrayed Yeshuwa to the chief priest. His subtlety was seen in various accounts of him, especially with the precious oil Mary poured on His head. His greed was immediately seen.
Mark 14:1 After two days it was the Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread. And the chief priests and the scribes sought how they might take Him by trickery and put Him to death. 2 But they said, “Not during the feast, lest there be an uproar of the people.”
3 And being in Bethany at the house of Simon the leper, as He sat at the table, a woman came having an alabaster flask of very costly oil of spikenard. Then she broke the flask and poured it on His head. 4 But there were some who were indignant among themselves, and said, “Why was this fragrant oil wasted? 5 “For it might have been sold for more than three hundred denarii and given to the poor.” And they criticized her sharply.
6 But Iesous said, “Let her alone. Why do you trouble her? She has done a good work for Me. 7 For you have the poor with you always, and whenever you wish you may do them good; but Me you do not have always. 8 She has done what she could. She has come beforehand to anoint My body for burial. 9 Assuredly, I say to you, wherever this gospel is preached in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be told as a memorial to her.”
10 Then Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went to the chief priests to betray Him to them.
Matthew 7:15 “Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. 16 You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? 17 Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18 A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. 19 Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Therefore, by their fruits you will know them. (NKJV)
People who call themselves Christians, who lived their entire lives in dishonesty find it harder to change their old ways and become a person of integrity and honor.
Matthew 19:25 When His disciples heard it, they were greatly astonished, saying, “Who then can be saved?”
26 Iesous looked at them and said to them, “With men this is impossible, but with Theos everything is possible.”
You can change your old habits. It takes perseverance and a willingness to change. Yeshuwa will help you. Don’t be like Judas who ultimately killed himself for betraying Yeshuwa.
Let’s pray: Father, help me to be a person of integrity and honor, faithful to You in everything I do and say. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
