Day 86 – Obedience
Proverbs 17:10 Rebuke is more effective for a wise man than a hundred blows on a fool.
- God’s names:
- Elohiym – Supreme God
- Yeshuwa/Iesous – Jesus
- Kurios – Supreme Authority
- Theos – Supreme Divinity
- Christos – Anointed One, Messiah
- God’s character:
- Wisdom
How do you respond when someone tries to correct you? Do you make changes to your behavior, or do you shrug it off and keep doing what you always did?
Solomon knew there were two kinds of people. Those who wanted to do what was right and accepted correction, and those who refused to change, no matter how often they were told to change.
The saying goes that you can talk to someone until you’re blue in the face, but it won’t do any good.
Elohiym told Adam and Eve not to eat the fruit in the middle of the garden. However, they didn’t listen to His instructions and did what the serpent told them because it looked good. Since that day, people have listened to what they wanted to hear.
How did you respond when someone told you about Yeshuwa? Did you immediately respond to Him and accept Him, or did you continue in your ways until you couldn’t deny what He offered — eternal life? How do you respond today to people in the church who correct you about the various doctrines put forth in the church? Do you listen or do you keep following the wide path to destruction?
Romans 16:17 Now I urge you, brethren, note those who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and avoid them. 18 For those who are such do not serve our Kurios Iesous Christos, but their own belly, and by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple. 19 For your obedience has become known to all. Therefore, I am glad on your behalf; but I want you to be wise in what is good, and simple concerning evil. 20 And the Theos of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Kurios Iesous Christos be with you. Amen.
Ephesians 4:8 Therefore He says: “When He ascended on high, He led captivity captive and gave gifts to men.” 9 (Now this, “He ascended” —what does it mean but that He also first descended into the lower parts of the earth? 10 He who descended is also the One who ascended far above all the heavens, that He might fill all things.) 11 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, 13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Huios of Theos, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christos; 14 that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, 15 but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head—Christos— 16 from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.
You cannot edify anyone if you go your own way, listening to those things which destroy the body. Consider your actions? Do they edify, or do you need to correct your actions? Don’t be stubborn and hold onto wrong teaching that does nothing for your soul. Turn your life to what Yeshuwa taught and you will find peace in your life.
Let’s pray: Father, give me a willing heart, obedient to You in everything. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
