Day 88 – Protector
Proverbs 17:12 Let a man meet a bear robbed of her cubs, rather than a fool in his folly.
- God’s names:
- YAHWEH/JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal
- Yeshuwa/Iesous – Jesus
- Elohiym – Supreme God
- Kurios – Supreme Authority, Lord
- Huios – Son
- God’s character:
- Protector
- Wisdom
- Instruction
- Defense
Mothers are fiercely protective of their children. They won’t let anyone come against them and if anyone does, that person will wish they hadn’t. It’s why children run to their mothers rather than their fathers when things go wrong.
Solomon knew the same fierce protection from his mother and always showed her respect. Many of Solomon’s proverbs show that a person is to respect the law of his mother. Solomon knew YAHWEH gave mothers to nurture and fathers to protect.
Proverbs 1:7 The fear of YAHWEH is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction. 8 My son, hear the instruction of your father, and do not forsake the law of your mother; 9 for they will be a graceful ornament on your head, and chains about your neck.
Christians face the same fierce protection from Yeshuwa as He gave to His chosen people. The characteristics Elohiym gave mothers is in Him. He guides, nurtures, and protects His people. When you run into trouble from Satan, and you will — daily, you can go to Yeshuwa and He will be a wall of protection around you.
Ephesians 6:1 Children, obey your parents in Kurios, for this is right. 2 “Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment with promise: 3 “that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.” 4 And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of Kurios.
Fathers protect. Mothers nurture. Elohiym does both. When Satan comes against you, he faces Elohiym’s wrath. Yeshuwa, Elohiym’s Huios, will protect you and He will nurture you through His Word. You can go to Him with all your problems, and He will take care of you. It’s His promise.
How has Satan come against you today? Take it to Yeshuwa in prayer and watch Satan flee from you.
Let’s pray: Father, thank you for being my defense when Satan comes against me. Thank you for Your Word which reminds me that I can go to you whenever Satan comes against me. Remind me to pray first in every trouble because I cannot defend myself except through You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
