Day 93 – Friend

Proverbs 17:17 A friend always loves, and a brother is born for adversity.

  • God’s names:
  • YAHWEH/JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal
  • Yeshuwa/Iesous – Jesus
  • God’s character:
  • Love
  • Friend

Do you have a friend you can count on who will always be there for you no matter what? People need friends — friends they can trust, not those who call themselves friends, but when you need them, they’re nowhere to be found. True friends are the ones who will stand by you in your worst situations, defend you against those who come against you without cause.

Solomon knew the kind of friendship that stood by him. He knew what true loyalty cost. It is the only way he could write a proverb like this. He knew the cost of friendship. He also knew as he studied the Law, that there was one friend he could always count on — YAHWEH.

As Christians, you have a friend who loves you more and better than anyone else ever could — Yeshuwa.

Yeshuwa told His disciples what a friend is and does.

John 15:12 “This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. 13 Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. 14 You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. 15 No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you. 16 You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you. 17 These things I command you, that you love one another. (NKJV)

What is the cost of friendship? Yeshuwa demonstrated the cost of friendship when He laid down His life for you. You know that kind of love and friendship. You would gladly lay down your life for your loved ones to keep them safe. That’s true friendship.

Yeshuwa didn’t only call you His friend without backing up what He said. He stands by you whenever Satan comes against you with his fiery darts that do whatever they can to separate you from Yeshuwa’s love. He tries to put doubt and fear in your heart, but Yeshuwa comes against Satan when you pray to Him, call on His name, and trust Him to take care of you. He will banish darkness and bring light into your life with the power of His Word, living in you.

Do you need a friend? Call on Yeshuwa today. Trust Him to keep you safe from every attack of your enemy, Satan. He paid the highest price for friendship when He died on the cross. Will you do the same for Him?

Let’s pray: Father, thank you for being my friend. Help me to be the kind of friend who helps whenever called on, just like You do for me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
