Day 105 – Wealth

Proverbs 18:11 The rich man’s wealth is his strong city, and like a high wall in his own esteem.

  • God’s names:
  • YAHWEH/JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal
  • Theos – Supreme Divinity
  • God’s character:
  • Provider

Wealthy people build walls of security around themselves. They don’t trust anyone and are always fearful something will happen to them or their money.

Solomon knew how wealth could change a person’s perspective and trust because he was the wealthiest man of his time. He knew how wealth could force a person to live behind walls and give them airs that they were better than anyone else. He knew it but chose to trust in YAHWEH with his life.

As a Christian, what do you place your trust in — your wealth or Yeshuwa?

Yeshuwa said you cannot serve two masters; you will always follow one.

Matthew 6:24 “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve Theos and mammon.

Your life will show people who and what you trust. When you committed your life to Yeshuwa, you declared that He was Kurios and Soter of your life — not the world.

Do people know where you place your trust? Do people see Yeshuwa in you? Or do you hide behind your wealth?

A wealthy man came to Yeshuwa and asked what he needed to do for salvation.

Luke 18:18 Now a certain ruler asked Him, saying, “Good Teacher, what can I do to inherit eternal life?” 19 Then Iesous said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, Theos. 20 You know the commandments: ‘Do not commit adultery, ‘Do not murder,’ ‘Do not steal,’ ‘Do not bear false witness,’ ‘Honor your father and your mother.’” 21 And he said, “All these things I have kept from my youth.” 22 When Iesous heard these things, He said to him, “You still lack one thing. Sell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.” 23 When he heard this, he became very sorrowful, for he was very rich. 24 When Iesous saw that he became very sorrowful, He said, “How hard it is for those who have riches to enter the kingdom of Theos! 25 For it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.” 26 Those who heard it said, “Who then can be saved?” 27 He said, “The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.” 28 Then Peter said, “See, we have left everything and followed You.” 29 He said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or parents or brothers or wife or children, for the sake of the kingdom of God, 30 who will not receive many times more in this present time, and in the age to come eternal life.”

Wealth isn’t in what you have but in how you live your life. When you put your faith and trust in Yeshuwa, you are far wealthier than the richest person on earth.

Let’s pray: Father, keep my mind focused on You and not on what I can gain in the world. You are all I need in this life because You provide everything I need. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
