People find themselves inside a courtroom for a vast number of reasons, not only for serious crimes. They can also be there as a member of the jury in criminal cases. In criminal cases, the prosecutor and defense attorney cross-examine the witnesses to find the whole truth of the matter.
Solomon was familiar with Israel’s judicial process. YAHWEH had given Israel a full set of laws they were to abide by when they were in the wilderness. The only people to preside over matters were the priests. People took their complaints to the priests who knew the law and the consequences for every situation a person could find themselves in and administer those consequences when they heard the full matter.
Traditionally, YAHWEH gave Israel 613 laws. According to research 365 of those laws were the negative thou shalt not laws with their consequences which corresponds with the number of days in a year. The number of positive laws number 248 which corresponds with the number of bones in the human anatomy.
The Israelites were to wear the laws as part of their clothing. And they were to place them on their doorposts of their home and their hearts.
Numbers 15:37 Again YAHWEH spoke to Moses, saying, 38 “Speak to the children of Israel: Tell them to make tassels on the corners of their garments throughout their generations, and to put a blue thread in the tassels of the corners. 39 And you will have the tassel, that you may look upon it and remember all the commandments of YAHWEH and do them, and that you may not follow the harlotry to which your own heart and your own eyes are inclined, 40 and that you may remember and do all My commandments, and be holy for your Elohiym. 41 I am YAHWEH your Elohiym, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, to be your Elohiym: I am YAHWEH your Elohiym.”
Deuteronomy 6:1 “Now this is the commandment, and these are the statutes and judgments which YAHWEH your Elohiym has commanded to teach you, that you may observe them in the land which you are crossing over to possess, 2 that you may fear YAHWEH your Elohiym, to keep all His statutes and His commandments which I command you, you and your son and your grandson, all the days of your life, and that your days may be prolonged. 3 Therefore, hear, O Israel, and be careful to observe it, that it may be well with you, and that you may multiply greatly as YAHWEH Elohiym of your fathers has promised you — ‘a land flowing with milk and honey.’ 4 Hear, O Israel: YAHWEH our Elohiym, YAHWEH is one! 5 You will love YAHWEH your Elohiym with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your strength. 6 And these words which I command you today will be in your heart. 7 You will teach them diligently to your children and will talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. 8 You will bind them as a sign on your hand, and they will be as frontlets between your eyes. 9 You will write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
Solomon would have worn that garment along with every other Israelite so they would know what YAHWEH commanded them, and he would have had the laws and commandments on the doorposts of his home.
Jews still wear the garment today to remind them of YAHWEH’S laws and commandments.
Christians don’t wear the laws and commandments like the Jewish people do, but they are still to obey the commandments YAHWEH gave His chosen people. The law shows your sin so you can confess it before Yeshuwa and receive forgiveness for your sin.
Romans 3:19 Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, that every mouth may be stopped, and the world may become guilty before Theos. 20 Therefore, by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin. 21 But now the righteousness of Theos apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, 22 even the righteousness of Theos, through faith in Iesous Christos, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference; 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of Theos, 24 being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christos Iesous, 25 whom Theos set forth as a propitiation by His blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance Theos had passed over the sins that were previously committed, 26 to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that He might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Iesous.
When you sin, you have an Advocate with the Pater — Yeshuwa. You can go to Him when you sin and He will forgive you.
1 John 2:1 My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Pater, Iesous Christos the righteous. 2 And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world. 3 Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments. 4 He who says, “I know Him,” and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 5 But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of Theos is perfected in him. By this we know that we are in Him. 6 He who says he abides in Him ought himself also to walk just as He walked.
1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (NKJV)
Your Advocate is Yeshuwa when you sin. Your Judge is YAHWEH. When you confess your sin, Yeshuwa goes to the Judge on your behalf. Because you are His child, He forgives you and declares you NOT GUILTY. You do not need to wear 613 laws on your person. You only need to be aware of those laws and your sin so you can confess your sin and receive forgiveness.
Let’s pray: Father, I am a sinner. I need Your forgiveness every day. Forgive me when I confess my sin to You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
