Day 112 – Judgment

Proverbs 18:18 Casting lots causes contentions to cease and keeps the mighty apart. 19 A brother offended is harder to win than a strong city, and contentions are like the bars of a castle.

  • God’s names:
  • YAHWEH/JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal
  • Yeshuwa/Iesous – Jesus
  • Huios – Son
  • God’s character:
  • Judge

People argue over the smallest things. It doesn’t take much to start a fight. Some arguments last a lifetime and longer when problems pass to the next generation. It takes someone who knows how to bring peace to the situation for arguments to cease and people to shake hands and come away as friends instead of enemies.

When trouble happened between people in Solomon’s day, they would go to the priest who had the Urim and Thummim to decide what YAHWEH would say about the matter. No one argued with YAHWEH’S decision.

Exodus 28:30 “And you will put in the breastplate of judgment the Urim and the Thummim, and they shall be over Aaron’s heart when he goes in before YAHWEH. Then Aaron will bear the judgment of the children of Israel over his heart before YAHWEH continually.

The Urim and Thummim were the light and perfection of YAHWEH’S judgment. When Solomon brought a matter before YAHWEH it was settled with casting the Urim and Thummim. His decision on the matter was decisive. No one argued with YAHWEH.

Divisions happen in the church all the time. People try to negotiate but the matter is often contentious and leads to a break in the church. Christians forget that every decision belongs to YAHWEH. He sent His Huios to stand before man’s judgment seat and take the sins of the entire world on His shoulders. After Yeshuwa’s death and resurrection, every decision belongs to Him.

Whether the argument is between Christians, or concerns church matters, every argument should be brought to Yeshuwa in prayer. Prayer leads to forgiveness. When forgiveness happens, Yeshuwa is honored and His way is preserved.

Casting lots settled the matter. The Urim and Thummim were YAHWEH’S judgment in every matter. When you pray, you are casting lots for Yeshuwa’s answer to the matter troubling you. You need to respect His judgment. Doing so will bring peace.

Let’s pray: Father, bring peace when trouble comes my way. Help me seek You in prayer because You alone have the answer. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
