Day 115 – Kindness

Proverbs 18:23 The poor man uses entreaties, but the rich answers roughly.

  • God’s names:
  • YAHWEH/JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal
  • Elohiym – Supreme God
  • Pater – Father
  • Theos – Supreme Divinity
  • Pneuma – Violent Wind, Breath, Spirit
  • God’s character:
  • Benevolent
  • Love
  • Joy
  • Peace
  • Longsuffering
  • Goodness
  • Kindness
  • Faithfulness
  • Gentleness
  • Self-control

Have you ever asked for something and the only answer you got was a closed door or a click on the other end of the phone? What you asked for wasn’t wrong, it was helpful but not to the person you asked for help. Charles Dickens used this type of entreaty in his book A Christmas Carol. It took three ghosts to show Scrooge he should be helpful to the poor. Most people aren’t like Scrooge; they aren’t swayed by entreaties to help anyone.

Solomon saw poor people everywhere and saw how people of means rejected their pleas for help. You know Solomon didn’t turn his back on the poor who crossed his path. He helped them by giving them jobs. He wasn’t only a king; he was a landowner who needed laborers for his vineyards and livestock. He needed servants in the palace. The queen of Sheba noticed how happy his servants were.

1 Kings 10:4 And when the queen of Sheba had seen all the wisdom of Solomon, the house that he had built, 5 the food on his table, the seating of his servants, the service of his waiters and their apparel, his cupbearers, and his entryway by which he went up to the house of YAHWEH, there was no more spirit in her. 6 Then she said to the king, “It was a true report which I heard in my land about your words and your wisdom. 7 However, I did not believe the words until I came and saw with my eyes; and indeed, the half had not told me. Your wisdom and prosperity exceed the fame of which I heard. 8 Happy are your men and happy are these your servants, who stand continually before you and hear your wisdom! 9 Blessed be YAHWEH your Elohiym, who delighted in you, setting you on the throne of Israel! Because YAHWEH has loved Israel forever, therefore He made you king, to do justice and righteousness.”

It takes a kind heart to see the needs of others and help them. When you accepted Yeshuwa as Soter and Kurios, He opened your eyes to the needs of others and gave you a heart to help them.

Yeshuwa told the people what kind of Pater he had.

Matthew 7:7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8 “For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. 9 Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? 10 Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? 11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Pater who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!

Yeshuwa showed the people they had goodness in them in how they treated their children, He also called them evil but knew how to give to their families. He did not tell them they knew how to help others when asked. He told them to treat others in the same way they wanted to be treated.

James saw how the people acted toward rich people and condemned them for their behavior.

James 2:5 Listen, my beloved brethren: Has Theos not chosen the poor of this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which He promised to those who love Him? 6 But you have dishonored the poor man. Do not the rich oppress you and drag you into the courts? 7 Do they not blaspheme that noble name by which you are called? 8 If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you do well; 9 but if you show partiality, you commit sin and are convicted by the law as transgressors. 10 For whoever will keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he is guilty of all.

Paul told the Galatians the kind of heart a Christian should have.

Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the Pneuma is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. 24 And those who are Christos’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live in the Pneuma, let us also walk in the Pneuma. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.

You are not to be like the world who would rather kick you in the pants than help you. When someone comes to you; open your hand, show them kindness, and Yeshuwa will reward you. He is benevolent toward you. Be the same to others.

Practice the Golden Rule everywhere you go to everyone you meet.

Let’s pray: Father, help me show kindness to everyone because You are kind to me. Let the fruit of the Spirit live in me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
