Day 117 – Integrity
Proverbs 19:1 Better is the poor who walks in his integrity than one who is perverse in his lips and is a fool. 2 Also it is not good for a soul to be without knowledge, and he sins who hastens with his feet. 3 The foolishness of a man twists his way, and his heart frets against YAHWEH.
- God’s names:
- YAHWEH/JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal
- Yeshuwa/Iesous – Jesus
- Christos – Anointed One, Messiah
- Kurios – Supreme Authority, Lord
- Hagios Pneuma – Sacred, Holy, Violent Wind, Breath, Spirit
- God’s character:
- Wisdom
- Knowledge
- Integrity
People without integrity act like fools in everything they do. They show a lack of wisdom and understanding and treat others with disdain as below them in intelligence. A poor person with wisdom and knowledge is better than a foolish person who thinks they can do nothing wrong.
Solomon saw poor people with more integrity in everything had than those who lived foolish lives and kept themselves from YAHWEH, believing they didn’t need Him to guide their lives.
Yeshuwa talked about foolish people. Their lives were built on destruction instead of integrity.
Matthew 7:24 “Therefore, whoever hears these sayings of Mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man who built his house on the rock: 25 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it did not fall, for it was founded on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: 27 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”
When a Christian build their lives on the Rock, they gain wisdom and understanding. They will lead lives of integrity because they will be founded on the Word, not on the foolishness of pride and arrogance.
1 Corinthians 3:11 For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Iesous Christos. 12 Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, 13 each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is. 14 If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. 15 If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.
A Christian without integrity never opens Yeshuwa’s Word, never prays, never spends time with other believers, but still believes they’re saved. They are foolish Christians with nothing to recommend themselves to Yeshuwa.
Matthew 25:1 “Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. 2 Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish. 3 Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them, 4 but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. 5 But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept. 6 And at midnight a cry was heard: ‘Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!’ 7 Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. 8 And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ 9 But the wise answered, saying, ‘No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’ 10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut. 11 Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, ‘Kurios, Kurios, open to us!” 12 But he answered and said, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, I do not know you.’
Foolish Christians don’t believe they need to do anything to maintain their salvation. They made a profession of faith but didn’t do anything to keep their lamps burning. The only way to have oil in your lamps is to spend time in Bible study, prayer, and associating with other believers. Then your lives will burn bright for Yeshuwa and people will know you are a person of integrity with wisdom, knowledge, and understanding because you spend time with Yeshuwa.
It doesn’t matter how poor you are. If you don’t live your life with integrity, people will see you as a fool and keep their distance from you. True poor people are those without the oil of the Hagios Pneuma in their lives that keep them steadfast in Yeshuwa.
Let’s pray: Father, keep my heart and life focused on You so that I will not appear foolish but wise because I trust in You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
