From the beginning of time, people have done what they could to escape punishment while bringing false accusations against innocent people. They will even take what people say and construe it to their own ends, believing they will never be caught in their lies and deceit.
Solomon was known as a fair and just king in Israel. He could root out a lie and see the truth in matters that made people sit up and take notice. It was one of the gifts Solomon asked YAHWEH for when He asked him what He could do for him. Solomon asked for wisdom to rule the nation.
In his first act as king, Solomon judged between to harlots over the life of a baby.
1 Kings 3:16 Now two women who were harlots came to the king and stood before him. 17 And one woman said, “O my lord, this woman and I dwell in the same house; and I gave birth while she was in the house. 18 Then it happened, the third day after I had given birth, that this woman also gave birth. And we were together; no one was with us in the house, except the two of us in the house. 19 And this woman’s son died in the night, because she lay on him. 20 Then she arose in the middle of the night and took my son from my side, while your maidservant slept, and laid him in her bosom, and laid her dead child in my bosom. 21 And when I rose in the morning to nurse my son, there he was, dead. But when I had examined him in the morning, indeed, he was not my son whom I had borne.” 22 Then the other woman said, “No! But the living one is my son, and the dead one is your son.” And the first woman said, “No! But the dead one is your son, and the living one is my son.” Thus, they spoke before the king. 23 And the king said, “The one says, ‘This is my son, who lives, and your son is the dead one’; and the other says, ‘No! But your son is the dead one, and my son is the living one.’” 24 Then the king said, “Bring me a sword.” Then they brought a sword before the king. 25 And the king said, “Divide the living child in two, and give half to one, and half to the other.” 26 Then the woman whose son was living spoke to the king, for she yearned with compassion for her son; and she said, “O my lord, give her the living child, and by no means kill him!” But the other said, “Let him be neither mine nor yours, but divide him.” 27 Then the king answered and said, “Give the first woman the living child, and by no means kill him; she is his mother.” 28 And all Israel heard of the judgment which the king had rendered; and they feared the king, for they saw that the wisdom of Elohiym was in him to administer justice.
As Christians, the world will bring false accusations against you. Yeshuwa told His disciples the world would hate them because they hated Him first.
John 15:18 “If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. 19 If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. (NKJV)
You know the world hated Yeshuwa. When they brought Him before the counsel before His crucifixion, they brought people before the Sanhedrin to bring false accusations against Him so they could put Him to death, but none of the witnesses could agree. The Law declared that on the testimony of two people a matter would be judged.
Matthew 26:57 And those who had laid hold of Iesous led Him away to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and the elders were assembled. 58 But Peter followed Him at a distance to the high priest’s courtyard. And he went in and sat with the servants to see the end. 59 Now the chief priests, the elders, and all the council sought false testimony against Iesous to put Him to death, 60 but found none. Even though many false witnesses came forward, they found none. But at last two false witnesses came forward 61 and said, “This fellow said, ‘I am able to destroy the temple of Theos and to build it in three days.’” 62 And the high priest arose and said to Him, “Do You answer nothing? What is it these men testify against You?” 63 But Iesous kept silent. And the high priest answered and said to Him, “I put You under oath by the living Theos: Tell us if You are the Christos, the Huios of Theos!” 64 Iesous said to him, “It is as you said. Nevertheless, I say to you, hereafter you will see the Huios of Anthropos sitting at the right hand of the Power and coming on the clouds of heaven.” 65 Then the high priest tore his clothes, saying, “He has spoken blasphemy! What further need do we have of witnesses? Look, now you have heard His blasphemy! 66 What do you think?” They answered and said, “He is deserving of death.”
If they can bring false witnesses before the counsel and give Yeshuwa the death sentence because He acknowledge that He is the Huios of Anthropos, can you expect nothing less as a Christian and disciple of Yeshuwa?
Peter told the people it wasn’t bad to suffer for Christos.
1 Peter 3:13 And who is he who will harm you if you become followers of what is good? 14 But even if you should suffer for righteousness’ sake, you are blessed. “And do not be afraid of their threats, nor be troubled.” 15 But sanctify the Kurios Theos in your hearts, and always be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear; 16 having a good conscience, that when they defame you as evildoers, those who revile your good conduct in Christos may be ashamed. 17 For it is better, if it is the will of Theos, to suffer for doing good than for doing evil.
You know the truth between You and Yeshuwa. Therefore, don’t be alarmed if someone lies about you and treats you the same as they treated Yeshuwa. Count yourself worthy to suffer for His name.
Peter and John were brought before the counsel and advised not to speak in Yeshuwa’s name. Then they beat them and let them go.
Acts 5:41 So they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for His name. (NKJV)
You are a Christian. People will lie about you. Keep your trust in Yeshuwa and rejoice because you know the truth.
Let’s pray: Father, help me to be more like You, knowing that people will tell lies about me, but You know the truth. Help me to stand strong in my faith in You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
