Day 124 – Compassionate
Proverbs 19:11 The discretion of a man makes him slow to anger, and his glory is to overlook a transgression.
- God’s names:
- YAHWEH/JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal
- Elohiym – Supreme God
- El – Strength, Mighty, Almighty God, Goodly, Great, Power
- Yeshuwa/Iesous – Jesus
- Christos – Anointed One, Messiah
- Kurios – Supreme Authority, Lord
- Theos – Supreme Divinity
- Pater/Abba – Father
- God’s character:
- Slow to Anger
- Glory
- Compassionate
- Forgiving
- Merciful
- Gracious
- Longsuffering
- Goodness
- Truth
Too many people are quick-tempered and ready to make accusations instead of walking away from something that is none of their business. Why start a fight when you can disarm one? People need to slow down, think, consider the situation and find another solution other than anger.
Solomon was a man who considered his options when he brought judgments as king. He used the same temperament toward his employees in the palace and his vineyards. In reading the Law daily as YAHWEH demanded, he read how El was slow to anger, compassionate, forgiving, and merciful. He tried to be the same, which is why he had a peaceful reign and was the only king to have a peaceful reign.
Exodus 34:6 And YAHWEH passed before him and proclaimed, “YAHWEH, YAHWEH Elohiym, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth, 7 keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children and the children’s children to the third and the fourth generation.”
What kind of person are you? Do you turn the other cheek as Yeshuwa taught the people? Do you have the mind of Christos?
Matthew 5:39 “But I tell you not to resist an evil person. But whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also. (NKJV)
Philippians 2:5 Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christos Iesous, 6 who, being in the form of Theos, did not consider it robbery to be equal with Theos, 7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. 9 Therefore, Theos also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, 10 that at the name of Iesous every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, 11 and that every tongue should confess that Iesous Christos is Kurios, to the glory of Theos the Pater.
When you have the mind of Christos, you will be slow to anger. You will overlook transgressions, and you will show mercy. You will not be quick to judge.
You have a choice. You can be quick-tempered and bring accusations, or you can show mercy, and have the mind of Christos in everything you do.
Let’s pray: Father, give me the mind of Christ, slow to anger, merciful, forgiving, and non-judgmental. Let me see the whole situation and consider Your ways and not the ways of the world. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
