- Kurios – Supreme Authority, Lord

Many people expect to inherit money and property from their parents when they die. Disagreements over inheritance often end up in probate court. Men count themselves lucky when the woman they chose as a wife honors him.
Solomon went further. He knew where his wealth came from — YAHWEH. He also knew where prudent wives also came from YAHWEH. He expounded on what a wife who honors YAHWEH does for her family.
Proverbs 31:10 Who can find a virtuous wife? For her worth is far above rubies. 11 The heart of her husband safely trusts her; so he will have no lack of gain. 12 She does him good and not evil all the days of her life. 13 She seeks wool and flax and willingly works with her hands. 14 She is like the merchant ships; she brings her food from afar. 15 She also rises while it is yet night, and provides food for her household, and a portion for her maidservants. 16 She considers a field and buys it; from her profits she plants a vineyard. 17 She girds herself with strength and strengthens her arms. 18 She perceives that her merchandise is good, and her lamp does not go out by night. 19 She stretches out her hands to the distaff, and her hand holds the spindle. 20 She extends her hand to the poor, yes, she reaches out her hands to the needy. 21 She is not afraid of snow for her household, for all her household is clothed with scarlet. 22 She makes tapestry for herself; her clothing is fine linen and purple. 23 Her husband is known in the gates, when he sits among the elders of the land. 24 She makes linen garments and sells them and supplies sashes for the merchants. 25 Strength and honor are her clothing; she will rejoice in time to come. 26 She opens her mouth with wisdom, and on her tongue is the law of kindness. 27 She watches over the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. 28 Her children rise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: 29 “Many daughters have done well, but you excel them all.” 30 Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing, but a woman who fears YAHWEH, she will be praised. 31 Give her the fruit of her hands and let her own works praise her in the gates.
How many men can say that of their wives? Solomon could say it of at least one of his many wives. It was her virtue that caused him to pen the proverb about YAHWEH giving him a prudent wife.
Many Christians take their wealth and riches for granted. They also take their wives for granted. They’re quick to honor them on their birthday, anniversary, and Mother’s Day, but the rest of the year, they are a convenience. It is only when the minister does a study on the virtues of a wife and mother, that men see their wives in a different light. Men who honor their wives every day, know the priceless gift Yeshuwa gave them. They are also the ones who know where their wealth comes from and don’t take it for granted, but honor Yeshuwa with it.
Proverbs 3:9 Honor YAHWEH with your possessions, and with the first fruits of all your increase; 10 then your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will overflow with new wine.
Honor Elohiym first. When you do, you will honor Him with your wealth and be an honorable husband to your wife and Yeshuwa will bless you.
Ephesians 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christos also loved the church and gave Himself for her, 26 that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word, 27 that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish. 28 So husbands’ ought to love their own wives as their own bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself. 29 For no one ever hated his own flesh, but nourishes and cherishes it, just as Kurios does the church.
When was the last time you honored your wife? She is Yeshuwa’s gift to you.
Let’s pray: Father, help me honor my spouse and bless You for the gift You gave me. Let me see my spouse as the vessel of honor You created her to be. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
