Every day people receive mail from organizations holding out their hands for donations. They even have the check boxes for the amount they want you to donate. Then there are those you see on the streets with the signs out to help them because they’re homeless – those are the real poor. Knowing who to help and who to avoid takes discernment.
Solomon cut to the chase. He said if you lend to the poor, YAHWEH will bless you.
As Christians you are confronted with pleas from your pastor about the needs of the church that go above and beyond your typical tithe.
There is a non-ending request for help from every sector of life. How do you know when to donate and when to ignore the pleas for help? Discernment. When you accepted Yeshuwa as Soter and Kurios, He gave you the Hagios Pneuma who gives you discernment when it comes to your finances. Before you open your checkbook or wallet, pray. Ask Yeshuwa if the request is from Him. He will guide you and bless you. Never give blindly. It is as good as throwing your money in the fire. Always pray. The Hagios Pneuma will give you the discernment you need to give to the many organizations who have their hand out for help.
YAHWEH condemned His people because they not only ignored the tithe, but the offerings as well.
Malachi 3:8 “Will a man rob Elohiym? Yet you have robbed Me! But you say, ‘In what way have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings. 9 You are cursed with a curse, for you have robbed Me, even this whole nation. 10 Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and try Me now in this,” says YAHWEH Tsaba, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it. 11 “And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, so that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground, nor will the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field,” says YAHWEH Tsaba; 12 and all nations will call you blessed, for you will be a delightful land,” says YAHWEH Tsaba.
Luke 6:38 “Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.” (NKJV)
Ezekiel 20:40 “For on My holy mountain, on the mountain height of Israel,” says the Adonay YAHWEH, “there all the house of Israel, all of them in the land, will serve Me; there I will accept them, and there I will require your offerings and the first fruits of your sacrifices, together with all your holy things.
Offerings are not a suggestion; they are a requirement from YAHWEH. With all the requests for your money, you need discernment — discernment that can only come through prayer and the Hagios Pneuma.
Let’s pray: Father, give me discernment to know who to help and who to ignore. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
