Correction to yesterday’s Bible study. I mentioned the law concerning discipline happened in the 1970s. It was the 1980s.

Here now is today’s study.

Day 131 – Plans

Proverbs 19:21 There are many plans in a man’s heart, nevertheless YAHWEH’S counsel — that will stand.

  • God’s names:
  • YAHWEH/JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal
  • Yeshuwa/Iesous – Jesus
  • Kurios – Supreme Authority, Lord
  • God’s character:
  • Counselor

Everyone makes plans. Calendars are full of plans, appointments, weekend getaways, and vacations. If you ask someone if they can do something on such and such a date, they need to consult their planner to see when they have a free moment.

When trouble happens, you often hear someone say they don’t have time for interruptions to their plans.

Solomon was both king and landowner. He owned property and needed to take care of the business of the kingdom and his property. He knew how important plans were to his daily life. He also knew that YAHWEH controlled his plans.

Proverbs 16:9 A man’s heart plans his way, but YAHWEH directs his steps.

Proverbs 3:5 Trust in YAHWEH with your whole heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.

What are your plans for today? As Christians, your calendar is just as full as everyone else’s.

There’s a poem about a person who didn’t have time to pray. His plans were so busy, he couldn’t even fit time in his day to spend with Yeshuwa. Everything he did without Yeshuwa’s counsel fell apart. The next day, he took time to pray and put his day in Yeshuwa’s hands, and his day lined up the way it should.

Jeremiah prayed for YAHWEH to direct his steps.

Jeremiah 10:23 O YAHWEH, I know the way of man is not in himself; it is not in man who walks to direct his own steps.

Even knowing that you need to put everything you do in Yeshuwa’s hands, doesn’t mean you do. You often run ahead of Him and His plans for you. When Yeshuwa puts a plan in your heart, you don’t stop to ask how to do it, you gather everything you need and start on His plans and then nothing works out the way you expected it would. You forgot to pray and ask for direction.

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says YAHWEH, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

Yeshuwa has plans for you. When He gives you a task, you need to ask Him what His plans are for the work He gave you.

James spoke about plans.

James 4:13 Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there, buy and sell, and make a profit”; 14 while you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away. 15 Instead, you ought to say, “If Kurios wills, we will live and do this or that.”

Your plans don’t belong to you. Your plans belong to Yeshuwa. When you wake up every morning, give your calendar to Him and He will direct you in everything you need to do. When you do, you will find time you didn’t realize you had to get everything done.

Let’s pray: Father, I put my plans in Your hands today. I know what my calendar looks like, but without You, I cannot accomplish anything. Direct my life today. I put my plans in Your hands. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
