Day 134 – Work
Proverbs 19:24 A lazy man buries his hand in the bowl and will not so much as bring it to his mouth again.
- God’s names:
- YAHWEH/JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal
- Christos – Anointed One, Messiah
- Yeshuwa/Iesous – Jesus
- Kurios – Supreme Authority, Lord
- Pater/Abba – Father
- Huios – Son
- Hagios Pneuma – Sacred, Holy, Violent Wind, Breath, Spirit
- God’s character:
- Busy
Parents prompt their children not to become lazy. They assign them chores and tell them, “Idle hands are the devil’s workshop.” Yet laziness is like a plague. You see many people holding out their hands for a handout instead of looking for and getting a job. Those same people will ask others to do their chores or work and then take the rewards of someone else’s labor. You see that theme played out often in books, TV shows, and movies.
The first thing YAHWEH told Adam and Eve when they sinned, was to till the ground so it would bring a harvest. He told them to work. YAHWEH has been working since creation, and He expects man whom He created to work.
Solomon was a man who worked every day, not only as king, but also as a landowner. He saw laziness in his courts and among those he employed. He saw how lazy a person could become by not providing food for himself.
What kind of Christian are you? You have a position in the body of Christos. Do you expect someone else to do your job? Statistics show 20% of the people do 80% of the work, not only in the church, but in every sector of life.
When you answered the call to become Yeshuwa’s child, He gave you work to do — your calling. You don’t need to fit into the body. You already do. What has Yeshuwa put in your life? What is your passion? Your passion is the work He gave you. You’ve been doing it your whole life. You probably didn’t recognize it as your calling — the work He has for you to do for Him.
Solomon recognized the 20/80 split among the people who worked for him. It’s easy to see the 20/80 split in the church too.
Yeshuwa saw the unwillingness of people to do the work He called them to do for the kingdom of Theos.
Matthew 9:37 Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. 38 Therefore, pray the Kurios of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”
Before you accepted Yeshuwa as Soter and Kurios, you were part of the harvest. Since you became a Christian, you are now called to harvest souls for Him.
Before Yeshuwa left to return to heaven, He commissioned His disciples to go out into the world.
Matthew 28:18 And Iesous came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Pater and of the Huios and of the Hagios Pneuma, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.
Yeshuwa doesn’t give you an assignment and then leaves you to do it alone. He said He will always be with you.
Become part of the 20% Yeshuwa called into His harvest fields. Laziness doesn’t reap rewards.
Let’s pray: Father, help me to keep busy for You. I don’t want to be part of the 80% who expect someone else to do the work You called me to do. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
