Day 135 – Wisdom and Understanding

Proverbs 19:25 Strike a scoffer, and the simple will become wary; rebuke one who has understanding, and he will discern knowledge. 26 He who mistreats his father and chases away his mother is a son who causes shame and brings reproach. 27 Cease listening to instruction, my son, and you will stray from the words of knowledge. 28 A disreputable witness scorns justice, and the mouth of the wicked devours iniquity. 29 Judgments are prepared for scoffers, and beatings for the backs of fools.

  • God’s names:
  • YAHWEH/JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal
  • Yeshuwa/Iesous – Jesus
  • God’s character:
  • Knowledge
  • Understanding
  • Justice
  • Judge
  • Wisdom

Scoffers are everywhere — in the home, workplace, wherever people gather you will find someone who won’t believe what they hear and will make fun of those who believe them. They will treat their parents as foolish and refuse to listen to instructions. They bring shame to everything and everyone they touch. If you rebuke them, they will laugh. However, people with knowledge and understanding will not stray from the truth. They will benefit from correction.

In Solomon’s early reign, he turned to YAHWEH for wisdom and understanding. He read the Law and knew the consequences of those who scoffed at YAHWEH’S judgments. He knew YAHWEH would judge those who turned their backs on the Law. He found that same judgment when he strayed from the Law and worshiped the many false elohiym of his wives. Solomon acknowledged in the end of his life that YAHWEH was the only answer for every consequence in the Law. He listened to wisdom and understanding and in doing so, wrote the many proverbs and taught the people what YAHWEH wanted from them and what He would do to those who scoffed at the Law and its consequences.

When you became a Christian, scoffers in the form of friends ridiculed everything you believed. They turned away from your friendship and wouldn’t listen to you when you spoke about Yeshuwa’s love for them and what He did on the cross for your salvation and theirs.

You cannot get away from scoffers. The only thing you can do is pray, read your Bible, and attend church for encouragement in the fight you face every day. Give the fight to Yeshuwa and watch Him turn the hearts of scoffers into men and women with faith to move mountains.

Revelation 3:20 “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. (NKJV)

You can present the Word. It is up to the hearer to stop mocking and open the door. Yeshuwa will do the rest.

Let’s pray: Father, help me turn over the scoffers into Your hands. Give me wisdom and understanding when they laugh at me for believing in You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
