Day 142 – Judgement

Proverbs 20:8 A king who sits on the throne of judgment scatters all evil with his eyes. 9 Who can say, “I have made my heart clean, I am pure from my sin”? 10 Diverse weights and diverse measures, they are both alike, an abomination to YAHWEH. 11 Even a child is known by his deeds, whether what he does is pure and right.

  • God’s names:
  • YAHWEH/JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal
  • Elohiym – Supreme God
  • Yeshuwa/Iesous – Jesus
  • Soter – Savior
  • Kurios – Supreme Authority, Lord
  • Theos – Supreme Divinity
  • Huios – Son
  • Christos – Anointed One, Messiah
  • God’s character:
  • King
  • Judge

Everyone is guilty of something. It doesn’t need to be a crime that gets you locked away. It can be a simple thing like not obeying the rules and procedures of your home or office. You might have trouble with people. It doesn’t make you a bad person, but it does give you a guilt complex. Your conscience will let you know when you did something or said something you shouldn’t.

Solomon was the king in Israel. His throne was the throne of judgment for Israel. When people came before him, he decided their guilt and punishment, or their innocence. Solomon also knew that his judgment was nothing compared to YAHWEH’S judgment. His was the ultimate throne of judgment where even the slightest disobedience was sin in His eyes. The consequence of disobedience was written in the Law. The Law started with the Ten Commandments, then covered every area of a person’s life. YAHWEH proclaimed the judgment whether restoration or death.

Exodus 20:1 And Elohiym spoke all these words, saying: 2 “I am YAHWEH your Elohiym, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage. 3 You will have no other elohiyms before Me. 4 You will not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; 5 you will not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, YAHWEH your Elohiym, am a jealous El, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, 6 but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments. 7 You will not take the name of YAHWEH your Elohiym in vain, for YAHWEH will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain. 8 Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days you will labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day is the Sabbath of YAHWEH your Elohiym. In it you will do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. 11 For in six days YAHWEH made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore, YAHWEH blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it. 12 Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which YAHWEH your Elohiym is giving you. 13 You will not murder. 14 You will not commit adultery. 15 You will not steal. 16 You will not bear false witness against your neighbor. 17 You will not covet your neighbor’s house; you will not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor’s.”

Every commandment has a consequence for disobedience covered in the Law and Solomon knew the consequences as king of Israel.

When you said yes to Yeshuwa as Soter and Kurios, did you set aside the Law as unnecessary because you were now under grace? Most Christians do. Yet the Law still remains the most important document YAHWEH gave His people and everyone who calls on His name.

Matthew 5:17 “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill. 18 For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled. (NKJV)

Romans 7:7 What will we say then? Is the law sin? Certainly not! On the contrary, I would not have known sin except through the law. For I would not have known covetousness unless the law had said, “You will not covet.” 8 But sin, taking opportunity by the commandment, produced in me all manner of evil desire. For apart from the law, sin was dead. 9 I was alive once without the law, but when the commandment came, sin revived and I died. 10 And the commandment, which was to bring life, I found to bring death. 11 For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it killed me. 12 Therefore, the law is holy, and the commandment holy and just and good.

Your life in Yeshuwa has consequences when you disobey Him.

2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is given by inspiration of Theos, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of Theos may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

All Scripture — not parts of it that you find more acceptable, but all Scripture and the Law is part of Scripture. The Law shows you your sin.

One day you will face the King on his judgment throne. What will His judgment be on that day?

Romans 5:8 But Theos demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christos died for us.

Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of Theos,

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of Theos is eternal life in Christos Iesous our Kurios.

When you sin, and you will every day, you can pray and ask Theos to forgive you and He will.

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (NKJV)

John 3:16 “For Theos so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Huios, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For Theos did not send His Huios into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

The Law shows us our sin. Yeshuwa died to free us of our sin when we confess our sin to Him.

Let’s pray: Father, I am a sinner. Every day I do something that brings a guilty verdict over my life. I confess my sin before You, cleanse me according to Your promise and wipe away my guilt because I am Your child. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
