Day 147 – Collateral

Proverbs 20:16 Take the garment of one who is surety for a stranger and hold it as a pledge when it is for a seductress.

• Huios – Son
• Yeshuwa/Iesous – Jesus
• Adonay – God’s proper name
• Soter – Savior
• Kurios – Supreme Authority
• Theos – Supreme Divinity

• God’s character:
• Surety
• Redeemer

Almost every large transaction a person makes today, they need to show collateral or add a co-signer who will act as collateral. For those times when people need a little help financially, they will pawn items of value and hope to redeem their items.

Asking for surety or collateral has been around since creation. Solomon was aware of the practice and cautioned against it, especially when seductive women were involved. Men had no scruples when it came to women. He could almost say the same for himself where women were concerned and probably why he could warn against the practice with his many wives and concubines as examples. Solomon also knew that when people put their trust in YAHWEH, He was all the collateral they needed.

In the beginning, when Adam and Eve ate the fruit in the Garden of Eden, Satan demanded surety from Elohiym. Elohiym provided surety through His Huios.

When Yeshuwa died on Calvary, He completed the surety Adonay made with Satan so that you could receive eternal life. When you said yes to Yeshuwa as Soter and Kurios, Satan no longer had any claim on you. Yeshuwa paid the redeeming price for your salvation.

1 Corinthians 6:20 For you were bought at a price; therefore, glorify Theos in your body and in your spirit, which are Theos’.

Yeshuwa redeemed you. Do you live a redeemed life, or does your life still look like Satan has a claim on you? Throw off the shackles. Yeshuwa redeemed you. You are free to live and glorify Yeshuwa with your life.

Let’s pray: Father, thank you for Your Son who stood as surety for my salvation. Let my life glorify You every day in everything I say and do. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
