Day 153 – Justice

Proverbs 20:22 Do not say, “I will recompense evil”; wait for YAHWEH, and He will save you.

  • God’s names:
  • YAHWEH/JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal
  • Yeshuwa/Iesous – Jesus
  • Kurios/KURIOS – Supreme Authority, Lord
  • God’s character:
  • Avenger
  • Judge

When someone does something or says something people don’t like, they take matters into their own hands and start swinging their fists. People come to blows over small things as much as big things. Some feuds are generations long and the families no longer remember what the problem was that started the disagreement.

Solomon knew that in every situation, he needed to give it to YAHWEH to take care of. He had said in the Law that vengeance belonged to Him alone.

Deuteronomy 32:35 Vengeance is Mine, and recompense; their foot will slip in due time; for the day of their calamity is at hand, and the things to come hasten upon them.’

Solomon told the people to take everything to YAHWEH. He would take care of His people and bring justice to those who came against them.

As Christians, you are taught to turn the other cheek. If someone says or does something you don’t like, you are to take it to Yeshuwa. When you do, He will take care of the matter. You won’t need to do anything but pray.

Matthew 5:39 “But I tell you not to resist an evil person. But whoever slaps you on your right cheek, turn the other to him also. (NKJV)

Romans 12:19 Beloved, do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says Kurios.

Hebrews 10:30 For we know Him who said, “Vengeance is Mine, I will repay,” says Kurios. And again, “KURIOS will judge His people.”

Too often people want to take matters into their own hands and do what they believe is right. They aren’t willing to wait for the law or justice to intervene, or Yeshuwa. The only thing they know is vengeance.

People have taken the Golden Rule and turned it inside out – Do to others before they do to you. That’s not what Yeshuwa told the people.

Matthew 7:12 “Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets. (NKJV)

When you do good to others, Yeshuwa will bless you and He will take care of whatever wrong was done to you.

What situation are you facing that you want to handle yourself? Give it to Yeshuwa and watch Him take care of the problem better than you could do on your own.

Let’s pray: Father, help me place all my problems in Your hands to take care of and not try to take care of it on my own, making matters worse than they need to be. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
