How many people know what they will do in life? One of the questions you get from your schoolteachers is: What do you want to be when you grow up? Children want to be many things. The list is as long as there are occupations, but most of the occupations for boys are the ones they see that make them heroes — firemen, policemen, astronauts. Girls want glamourous jobs too — nurses, teachers, even movie actresses. Nobody chooses a way of life that leads to trouble.

What did you write down when the teacher asked that question? Did you do the job you wanted when the teacher asked that question?

When I was young and the teacher asked that question, I wanted to be a nurse. I was also fascinated with the space program and wanted to be the first woman in space. That didn’t happen. But I did start in the nursing field as an aid before my life turned elsewhere.

I would ask you: What were you passionate about when you were young? Did your passions line up with what you answered or take you in another direction?

Solomon asks the same question and then qualifies it and says that whatever people did, they should trust YAHWEH to guide them through life. He would light the way and show them His plans.

Psalm 119:105 NUN. Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

This verse looks like one David would pass on to his son. It exemplifies his life in that David always looked to YAHWEH to lead him and go ahead of him into battle.

As Christians, how do you start your day? Do you let Yeshuwa lead you? Is He your guide through life? Does He walk beside you throughout your day? Or do you only remember Him when trouble comes your way?

How did or does Yeshuwa guide your life? Are or did you work in the job you wanted to do when you were young or did Yeshuwa lead you on a different path? Instead of the job you wanted to do, are you doing what you were passionate about as a child?

Psalm 37:23 The steps of a good man are ordered by YAHWEH, and He delights in his way.

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says YAHWEH, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

When you said yes to Yeshuwa and committed your life to Him, what plans did you have in the work you wanted to do for Him? What happened to those plans? What were His plans for you? Did you put your life fully into His hands to guide you where He wanted you to go and do what He planned for you?

Matthew 9:35 Then Iesous went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. 36 But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. 37 Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. 38 Therefore, pray the Kurios of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”

Matthew 28:18 And Iesous came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go, therefore, and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Pater and of the Huios and of the Hagios Pneuma, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

You have work to do for Yeshuwa and the kingdom of Theos. Whatever work He gives you, do it with all your might for His glory.

1 Corinthians 10:31 Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of Theos.

When you do you will find the path ahead shines brightly, and Yeshuwa walks beside you. He will never leave you alone in the work you do for Him. Trust Him to lead the way.

Let’s pray: Father, lead the way. Walk beside me on this journey through life and the work You have for me to do for You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
