Day 159 – Mercy, Truth, and Loving Kindness
Proverbs 20:28 Mercy and truth preserve the king, and by loving kindness he upholds his throne.
- God’s names:
- YAHWEH/JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal
- Elohiym – Supreme God
- Yeshuwa/Iesous – Jesus
- Christos – Anointed One, Messiah
- God’s character:
- Mercy
- Truth
- Loving kindness
- Integrity
When you think about leadership, mercy and truth don’t come to mind. Neither does loving kindness. Yet it’s what everyone wants from their leaders.
Solomon knew the only way to govern Israel was with mercy and truth. He also knew from the example of his father, that YAHWEH embodied mercy, truth, and loving kindness. With attention to the Law of Moses, he endeavored to be the kind of king YAHWEH wanted him to be. It was the only way to preserve the throne YAHWEH gave him.
When you became a Christian, what did you expect from Yeshuwa? Did you expect mercy and truth? Yes, and so much more. You wanted someone who would show you His loving kindness every day even when you didn’t show it to your neighbor.
Leviticus 11:45 ‘’For I am YAHWEH who brings you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your Elohiym. You will, therefore, be holy, for I am holy.
Leviticus 19:18 ‘You will not take vengeance, nor bear any grudge against the children of your people, but you will love your neighbor as yourself: I am YAHWEH.
Yeshuwa asked you to be like Him. Being like Him means being a person of integrity. Mercy and truth should anchor your life along with loving kindness. If you can’t show those traits, you do not show the love of Christos to your neighbor.
Philippians 2:5 Let this mind be in you which was also in Christos Iesous, 6 who, being in the form of Theos, did not consider it robbery to be equal with Theos, 7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.
Do you show mercy and truth to everyone you meet? Can people say you show loving kindness to those people would otherwise turn away from?
YAHWEH’S throne is mercy and truth. He shows His loving kindness to everyone. He is not selective. He loves everyone the same and so should you.
Don’t wait for your leaders to show mercy and truth, show it in your actions to others. Don’t wait for your leaders to show loving kindness, be that to everyone you see. Your kindness can change a heart. Your mercy and truth can change the way people see the world around them.
Mercy, truth, and loving kindness begin with you.
Let’s pray: Father, let people see You in me. Let mercy, truth, and loving kindness be the anthem of my life. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
