Day 176 – Work

Proverbs 21:25 The desire of the lazy man kills him, for his hands refuse to labor. 26 He covets greedily all day long, but the righteous gives and does not spare.

  • God’s names:
  • YAHWEH/JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal
  • Yeshuwa/Iesous – Jesus
  • Kurios – Supreme Authority
  • Theos – Supreme Divinity
  • Christos – Anointed One, Messiah
  • God’s character:
  • Righteous
  • Provider

You see lazy people everywhere. They give many excuses why they can’t work while expecting others to give them whatever they need. If you’re foolish enough to listen to them, they have big stories about what they want, but you soon realize they are too lazy to go after what they want. However, people who go after their dreams also give to those who genuinely need help.

Beggars were common in Solomon’s day. They sat in the gates of the city begging. He saw those who were too lazy to work, and those who were diligent in not only working giving to those in need.

Proverbs 13:4 The soul of a lazy man desires and has nothing; but the soul of the diligent shall be made rich.

It doesn’t take rocket science to know you need to work to get what you want. Working is where lazy people fall short.

Solomon made comparisons to ants when it came to work.

Proverbs 6:6 Go to the ant, you sluggard! Consider her ways and be wise, 7 who, having no captain, overseer or ruler, 8 provides her supplies in the summer, and gathers her food in the harvest. 9 How long will you slumber, O sluggard? When will you rise from your sleep? 10 A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep— 11 So shall your poverty come on you like a prowler, And your need like an armed man.

Solomon knew that when you put your trust in YAHWEH, and worked diligently with your hands, He would provide everything you need.

You find lazy people among Christians also. Consider who volunteers for the different ministries in your church. Who shows up and starts working without being told or asked. Who works diligently and has enough to give to the poor? When you see who shows up, you also see who doesn’t. They are also the ones who seek help from the church. They become a burden for the church because they are unwilling to work.

Ephesians 4:28 Let him who stole steal no longer, but rather let him labor, working with his hands what is good, that he may have something to give him who has need. (NKJV)

Yeshuwa gave everyone who calls Him Kurios work in his harvest field.

Matthew 9:37 Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. 38 Therefore, pray the Kurios of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.”

Don’t be a lazy Christian. You will find Yeshuwa will give you everything you need when you are faithful to give to those who are willing to work but are still in need.

Philippians 4:19 And my Theos will supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christos Iesous.

Let’s pray: Father, don’t let people see me with idle hands, but with willing hands to work diligently in the work You give me to do. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
