People can get all the education they need for the work they do, they can understand enough to teach it, they can even counsel others but it’s all limited. We can only understand so much. Someone else always knows more.
Solomon knew that despite his wisdom, YAHWEH was wiser. YAHWEH had more understanding than all the knowledge he accumulated in his lifetime. He knew nothing compared to what YAHWEH understood. When he needed counsel, it came from YAHWEH. When he needed understanding, it came from YAHWEH. When YAHWEH asked him what He could give him, Solomon said Wisdom to govern the people, and YAHWEH gave it to him. No one was wiser than Solomon, but even his wisdom could not compare with YAHWEH’S wisdom.
1 Kings 3:5 At Gibeon YAHWEH appeared to Solomon in a dream by night; and Elohiym said, “Ask! What shall I give you?” 6 And Solomon said: “You have shown great mercy to Your servant David my father, because he walked before You in truth, in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with You; You have continued this great kindness for him, and You have given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day. 7 Now, O YAHWEH my Elohiym, You have made Your servant king instead of my father David, but I am a little child; I do not know how to go out or come in. 8 And Your servant is in the midst of Your people whom You have chosen, a great people, too numerous to be numbered or counted. 9 Therefore, give to Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people, that I may discern between good and evil. For who can judge these great people of Yours?” 10 The speech pleased Adonay, that Solomon had asked this thing. 11 Then Elohiym said to him: “Because you have asked this thing, and have not asked long life for yourself, nor have asked riches for yourself, nor have asked the life of your enemies, but have asked for yourself understanding to discern justice, 12 behold, I have done according to your words; see, I have given you a wise and understanding heart, so that there has not been anyone like you before you, nor shall any like you arise after you. 13 And I have also given you what you have not asked: both riches and honor, so that there shall not be anyone like you among the kings all your days. 14 So if you walk in My ways, to keep My statutes and My commandments, as your father David walked, then I will lengthen your days.”
With All the wisdom and understanding YAHWEH gave him, Solomon knew it could not compare with His wisdom, understanding, or counsel.
When you accepted Yeshuwa as Soter and Kurios, did you expect to be wise and have sudden understanding? Many Christians think they are suddenly wiser than their neighbor because they have eternal life. You have eternal life, but you still need to grow in your faith. You won’t stop growing until you cross over into eternity and see Yeshuwa face to face.
I know I have learned that I still have a lot to learn when it comes to my understanding of Scripture. Everyday I learn something new and everyday I rejoice because of the understanding He gives me.
What about you? Are you still learning or have you read the Bible once and set it aside because you read it and you know Yeshuwa? Many Christians have told me they don’t need to read the Bible because they already read it.
Jeremiah 9:23 Thus says YAHWEH: “Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, let not the mighty man glory in his might, nor let the rich man glory in his riches; 24 but let him who glories glory in this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am YAHWEH, exercising lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness in the earth. For in these I delight,” says YAHWEH.
2 Timothy 2:15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to Theos, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
When you spend time with Yeshuwa every day, you will know only a little bit of the infinite wisdom, understanding, and counsel He gives to those who love Him and call Him Kurios.
Let’s pray: Father, like Solomon, I’m asking for wisdom and understanding to know how to walk through my day. Give me discernment to know that what You give me cannot compare to who You are — total wisdom, understanding, and counsel. Help me to read and study Your Word so I can impart Your wisdom and understanding to those who want to know You more. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
