Day 189 – Acceptance

Proverbs 22:10 Cast out the scoffer, and contention will leave; yes, strife and reproach will cease.

• Theos – Supreme Divinity

• God’s character:
• Acceptance
• Forgiving
• Loving

You all know them, the bullies of your childhood that followed you into the workplace and even into your recreational life. They make fun of everything you do and even try to persuade you that you’re not worth the footprint you make on the Earth. Once you get rid of that person, your life will be so much better.

Solomon saw and heard them, and his advice was to get rid of them. The only person the people needed was YAHWEH who would never tell His people they weren’t worth His attention. YAHWEH did everything He could to persuade His people that they were worthy of Him. No matter how often Israel sinned against YAHWEH, He forgave them and held them as His own. Solomon saw firsthand how forgiving YAHWEH was when he strayed from Him.

2 Chronicles 7:12 Then YAHWEH appeared to Solomon by night and said to him: “I have heard your prayer and have chosen this place for Myself as a house of sacrifice. 13 When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people, 14 if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. 15 Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer made in this place. 16 For now I have chosen and sanctified this house, that My name may be there forever; and My eyes and My heart will be there perpetually. 17 As for you, if you walk before Me as your father David walked, and do according to all that I have commanded you, and if you keep My statutes and My judgments, 18 then I will establish the throne of your kingdom, as I covenanted with David your father, saying, ‘You will not fail to have a man as ruler in Israel.’ 19 But if you turn away and forsake My statutes and My commandments which I have set before you, and go and serve other elohiyms, and worship them, 20 then I will uproot them from My land which I have given them; and this house which I have sanctified for My name I will cast out of My sight, and will make it a proverb and a byword among all peoples. 21 And as for this house, which is exalted, everyone who passes by it will be astonished and say, ‘Why has YAHWEH done thus to this land and this house?’ 22 Then they will answer, ‘Because they forsook YAHWEH Elohiym of their fathers, who brought them out of the land of Egypt, and embraced other elohiyms, and worshiped them and served them; therefore, He has brought all this calamity on them.’”

YAHWEH isn’t a bully, He’s Elohiym and He expects obedience from His children. He told them what He would do if they disobeyed Him, He also told them what He would do if they turned to Him with a repentant heart.

Israel knew YAHWEH’S forgiveness every time they repented. That doesn’t make Him a bully, that makes Him a loving Elohiym.

Bullies don’t relent. They don’t set conditions for those they condemn. They’re unrelenting. It’s best to get away from them as quickly as possible for peace of mind.

When you accepted Yeshuwa as Soter and Kurios, you found someone who would love you unconditionally, wouldn’t scoff at everything you did, accepted you, and showed you what love looked like.

John 3:16 “For Theos so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Huios, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For Theos did not send His Huios into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

You didn’t find a bully when you accepted Yeshuwa, you found a Soter, someone who would save you from the bullies in your life.

You will find bullies who call themselves Christians. They can quote chapter and verse, they accepted Yeshuwa the same as you, but they preferred to be the king in their life. They never gave the throne in their life reserved for Yeshuwa to Him. They accepted Him, but they didn’t surrender to Him.

It’s common to want to take control of your life and not surrender any part of it to Yeshuwa. The songwriter wrestled with it too when he wrote the song — I Surrender All.

Have you surrendered your life to Him? Have you put Him on the throne of your life? When you do, you will find the scoffer in your life will leave. The first three letters in Yeshuwa are Yes. Give your life to Him, surrender your need for control to Him and watch Him change you.

Let’s pray: Father, forgive me for wanting control over my life. I surrender every part of my life to You. Take my life and make it wholly acceptable to You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
