It’s easy to envy people who seem to have everything they want in life. Everything comes easy to them.
Solomon, who had everything a person could want, told the people not to envy those who had everything except the reverent hope and love of YAHWEH. They were truly lost and would know it when they faced YAHWEH in eternity.
Psalm 73:1 (A Psalm of Asaph.) Truly Elohiym is good to Israel, to such as are pure in heart. 2 But as for me, my feet had almost stumbled; my steps had nearly slipped. 3 For I was envious of the boastful, When I saw the prosperity of the wicked. 4 For there are no pangs in their death, but their strength is firm. 5 They are not in trouble as other men, nor are they plagued like other men. 6 Therefore pride serves as their necklace; violence covers them like a garment. 7 Their eyes bulge with abundance; they have more than heart could wish. 8 They scoff and speak wickedly concerning oppression; they speak loftily. 9 They set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue walks through the earth. 10 Therefore, his people return here, and waters of a full cup are drained by them. 11 They say, “How does Elohiym know? And is there knowledge in the Most Elyown?” 12 Behold, these are the ungodly, who are always at ease; they increase in riches. 13 Surely, I have cleansed my heart in vain and washed my hands in innocence. 14 For all day long I have been plagued and chastened every morning. 15 If I had said, “I will speak thus,” Behold, I would have been untrue to the generation of Your children. 16 When I thought how to understand this, it was too painful for me— 17 Until I went into the sanctuary of God; then I understood their end. 18 Surely, You set them in slippery places; You cast them down to destruction. 19 Oh, how they are brought to desolation, as in a moment! They are utterly consumed with terrors. 20 As a dream when one awakes, So, Adonay, when You awake, You will despise their image.
As Christians, you know you shouldn’t envy those who have everything life could give them. You see their lifestyle and you see how they mock Elohiym. There is nothing about them that speaks reverence for Yeshuwa. Instead, your position should be the same as Asaph’s when he said he knew their end when they went into the sanctuary. You know it too when you gather with other believers to worship and praise Yeshuwa for your salvation.
What does Yeshuwa tell you to do about those who mock Him? Pray for them. There was a time when you didn’t know Yeshuwa and you mocked those who did. There was hope for you. There is hope for them. Yeshuwa knows their hearts and whether it is soft to receive Him as Soter and Kurios or not.
Matthew 5:11 “Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake. 12 Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you. — 43 “You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, 45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. 46 For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? 47 And if you greet your brethren only, what do you do more than others? Do not even the tax collectors do so? 48 Therefore, you shall be perfect, just as your Father in heaven is perfect.
You know that if they don’t accept Yeshuwa as Soter and Kurios, they will not enjoy the same eternity you will when they die. Solomon told the people there was a hereafter. He knew that those who didn’t serve YAHWEH, served themselves. Yeshuwa promised you that you would be with Him when you die.
John 14:1 “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in Theos, believe also in Me. 2 In My Pater’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.
Revelation 21:6 And He said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts. 7 He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his Theos, and he shall be My son. 8 But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars will have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”
Yeshuwa knows those who belong to Him. He only asks you to pray for those who don’t know Him. He will do the rest.
Let’s pray: Father, You are my Savior and Lord. You loved me when I didn’t love You. You called me, and I heard You. Help me to pray for those who don’t know You and leave their salvation in Your hands. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
