Day 211 – Provision

Proverbs 24:1 Do not be envious of evil men, nor desire to be with them; 2 for their heart devises violence, and their lips talk of troublemaking.

Have you envied someone only to find out what kind of person they were? Envy causes trouble because it wants what others have and people will go to any length to become just like the person they envy, not realizing the trouble it will cost them.

Solomon knew what envy did to people. He saw it in his family. Solomon wanted his father’s throne and Adonijah wanted his. Both died for their greed. Solomon knew that the end of envy was death because of the violence it causes those who wanted what others had.

David taught his son what envy would do to a person and what to do to keep himself free of it.

Psalm 37:1 (A Psalm of David.) Do not fret because of evildoers, nor be envious of the workers of iniquity. 2 For they will soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb. 3 Trust in YAHWEH and do good; dwell in the land, and feed on His faithfulness. 4 Delight yourself also in YAHWEH, and He will give you the desires of your heart. 5 Commit your way to YAHWEH, trust also in Him, and He will bring it to pass. 6 He will bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday. 7 Rest in YAHWEH and wait patiently for Him; do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass. 8 Cease from anger and forsake wrath; do not fret — it only causes harm. 9 For evildoers will be cut off; but those who wait on YAHWEH, they will inherit the earth.

Envy strips you of everything good, while trusting in YAHWEH’S provision will give you what you desire.

Do you remember what your life was like before you became a Christian? Envy played a huge part of your life. You saw the glamor and glitz of celebrities, and even those in your classes at school. They all had what you wanted. But they lacked the most important thing — a relationship with Yeshuwa Christos. When you realized what you had with Him, you saw that you had so much more than they did. Envy was no longer a problem in your life.

Philippians 4:19 And my Theos will supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christos Iesous.

If you don’t have it, you don’t need it. Theos will provide everything when you trust Him — your wants and your needs.

Let’s pray: Father, take envy from my life. It only causes trouble. Make me grateful for what I have and trust You for what I need and want. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
