Day 216 – Honey

Proverbs 24:13 My son, eat honey because it is good, and the honeycomb which is sweet to your taste; 14 so will the knowledge of wisdom be to your soul; if you have found it, there is a prospect, and your hope will not be cut off.

Honey is a natural antibiotic for coughs and wounds. It’s an antioxidant that is good for your health. It’s also high in calories and should be used in moderation.

Honey is mentioned often in the Bible. Solomon knew it was good to eat along with the honeycomb. He said it was as good for the body as wisdom was for the soul. He also knew what every Israelite knew — YAHWEH called the land of Israel, the land of milk and honey when He brought them out of Egypt.

Exodus 3:7 And YAHWEH said: “I have surely seen the oppression of My people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry because of their taskmasters, for I know their sorrows. 8 I have come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up from that land to a good and large land, to a land flowing with milk and honey, to the place of the Canaanites and the Hittites and the Amorites and the Perizzites and the Hivites and the Jebusites.

YAHWEH brought Israel to a good land and pleasant land. He described it as a land flowing with milk and honey. It had everything the children of Israel needed for their new life.

Honey isn’t only a metaphor for what is healthy for the soul, but a natural food that is healthy for the body.

Christians want the good things of YAHWEH. When you accepted Yeshuwa as Soter and Kurios, you expected to receive His best for your life. What many Christians fail to understand is that you often need to fight for the good things Yeshuwa offers, just like the Israelites fought their enemies when they left Egypt to go to the land flowing with milk and honey. They knew YAHWEH blessed the land. He wouldn’t lead them to a land that wouldn’t benefit them.

Satan will not give you anything good. He will fight you. You need to be prepared for whatever trials Satan brings against you as you pursue the goodness of Yeshuwa.

Your fight for the goodness of Yeshuwa isn’t against flesh and blood. People don’t go to battle without armor. You have YAHWEH’S armor. You need to wear it every day.

Ephesians 6:11 Put on the whole armor of Theos, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in heavenly places.

Your armor is the honey for your soul. It’s wisdom, knowledge, and hope. When you stand in your armor, you partake of the goodness of Yeshuwa. Satan can’t stand against you when you wear your armor. Instead, he flees from you.

James 4:7 Therefore, submit to Theos. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.

Are you standing in your armor. Have you tasted the goodness of Theos?

Let’s pray: Father, help me to stand in Your goodness. As honey is healthy to my body, so Your Word is healthy to my soul. Refresh me with Your Word daily, then it will be like honey to my soul and I will know Your goodness. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
