Day 220 – Reverence

Proverbs 24:21 My son, fear YAHWEH and the king; do not associate with those given to change; 22 for their calamity will rise suddenly, and who knows the ruin those two can bring?

• Elohiym – Supreme God
• Adonay – God’s proper name
• Melek/Basileus/ King
• Yeshuwa/Iesous – Jesus
• Huios of Theos – Son of God
• Theos – Supreme Divinity
• Christos – Anointed One, Messiah

• God’s character:
• Justice

Do you know people who argue with every point of leadership? They aren’t trying to win you over to their side with their rebellious talk, but they do because they planted seeds of doubt about the leadership. It doesn’t matter where that leadership originates from, whether government or the home, people will rebel against any kind of authority.

Solomon told the people to revere YAHWEH and the king. Both will keep you balanced and on the right path. However, those who rebel against YAHWEH and the king will find themselves outside YAHWEH’S Law and in trouble with Elohiym and the king.

His father, David, spoke about what YAHWEH thought about rebellion to Him.

Psalm 2:1 Why do nations rage, and the people plot a vain thing? 2 The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against YAHWEH and against His Anointed, saying, 3 “Let us break their bonds in pieces and cast away their cords from us.” 4 He who sits in the heavens shall laugh; Adonay will hold them in derision. 5 Then He will speak to them in His wrath, and distress them in His deep displeasure: 6 “Yet I have set My Melek on My holy hill of Zion.” 7 “I will declare the decree: YAHWEH has said to Me, ‘You are My Huios, today I have begotten You. 8 Ask of Me, and I will give You the nations for Your inheritance, and the ends of the earth for Your possession. 9 You will break them with a rod of iron; You will dash them to pieces like a potter’s vessel.’” 10 Now therefore, be wise, O kings; be instructed, you judges of the earth. 11 Serve YAHWEH with fear and rejoice with trembling. 12 Kiss the Huios, lest He be angry, and you perish in the way, when His wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him.

From his father, Solomon learned the futility of going against YAHWEH. He then told the people the same thing, Elohiym would hold them in derision.

As Christians, you know there are countless religions in the world. You know the one you need to follow is the one that gives you a right relationship with Yeshuwa, the one that teaches the inerrant Word of Yeshuwa. When you listen to someone who takes Scripture apart and puts their own interpretation on Scripture, making it what it never meant to be, you are in danger of the trouble that will come on you by even thinking those points were valid when they have nothing to do with Yeshuwa’s Word.

Ephesians 4:11 And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, 12 for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christos, 13 till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Huios of Theos, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christos; 14 that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting, 15 but, speaking the truth in love, may grow up in all things into Him who is the head — Christos — 16 from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love.

It is better to walk away from those who talk about Yeshuwa with no understanding about what Scripture says. Open your Bible, open the Bible app on your phone. Read what it says and let Yeshuwa guide you in the truth of His Word.

Let’s pray: Father, keep me in the palm of Your hand. Teach me Your Word. Let me know Your heart as You lead me down the path of righteousness for Your name’s sake. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
