Life is preparation. From the moment you’re born you’re preparing for your future. School prepares you for your career. Teachers get you started thinking about what you want to be when you grow up as early as third grade. It was third grade for me. It might be earlier for you. Then by the time you graduated from high school, you had chosen your career path. You did the outside work. It was now time to build your future.
Solomon saw how much planning it took to prepare for what life brought the people. He knew that nothing happened without planning and preparation. He told the people to prepare the outside before they built their homes. He also knew that the only way to prepare and build was through YAHWEH.
It was Solomon who wrote the psalm of preparation.
Psalm 127:1 (A Song of Ascents. Of Solomon.) Unless YAHWEH builds the house, they labor in vain who build it; unless YAHWEH guards the city, the watchman stays awake in vain. 2 It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows; for so He gives His beloved sleep. 3 Behold, children are a heritage from YAHWEH, the fruit of the womb is a reward. 4 Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one’s youth. 5 Happy is the man who has his quiver full of them; they will not be ashamed but will speak with their enemies in the gate.
Preparation begins with YAHWEH.
What did you prepare for before you became a Christian? Is the path you prepared still the same since you became a Christian? YAHWEH prepares each person for the work He wants them to accomplish for His kingdom. He prepared His Huios for the greatest work of His life — the salvation of mankind.
Scripture calls Yeshuwa a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief because it was for you that He was born. It was for you YAHWEH prepared Him for the cross.
Isaiah 53:1 Who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of YAHWEH been revealed? 2 For He will grow up before Him as a tender plant, and as a root out of dry ground. He has no form or comeliness; and when we see Him, there is no beauty that we should desire Him. 3 He is despised and rejected by men, a Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him. 4 Surely, He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by Elohiym, and afflicted. 5 But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned, every one, to his own way; and YAHWEH has laid on Him the iniquity of us all. 7 He was oppressed and He was afflicted, yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so He opened not His mouth. 8 He was taken from prison and from judgment, and who will declare His generation? For He was cut off from the land of the living; for the transgressions of My people, He was stricken. 9 And they made His grave with the wicked — but with the rich at His death, because He had done no violence, nor was any deceit in His mouth. 10 Yet it pleased YAHWEH to bruise Him; He has put Him to grief. When You make His soul an offering for sin, He will see His seed, He will prolong His days, and the pleasure of YAHWEH will prosper in His hand. 11 He will see the labor of His soul and be satisfied. By His knowledge, My righteous Servant will justify many, for He will bear their iniquities. 12 Therefore I will divide Him a portion with the great, and He will divide the spoil with the strong, because He poured out His soul unto death, and He was numbered with the transgressors, and He bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.
Many Christians know this Scripture and most of it by heart. Did you pay attention to what it says in verse ten? It pleased YAHWEH to bruise Him because the end of His preparation — the cross — is your salvation.
YAHWEH began building His house the day Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden and He fulfilled His preparation when His Huios died on the cross and rose again on the third day.
What is Yeshuwa preparing in your life? What did He start preparing you for long before you knew Him? Are you doing your work for His glory?
1 Corinthians 10:31 Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of Theos.
Yeshuwa called you as His child long before you were born. He prepared the work you would do for Him. When you accepted Him as Soter and Kurios, you were already doing work He prepared in you. He doesn’t call you to a different work when you became His child. He solidified the purpose for the work He instilled in you.
No matter what work you’re doing, know it is the work Yeshuwa called you to do and prepared you for it from the moment you were born.
Let’s pray: Father, You prepared my life before I had a life. Help me to do the work You gave me with my whole heart and soul, giving You glory always. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
