Day 228 – Peace

Proverbs 26:17 He who passes by and meddles in a quarrel not his own is like one who takes a dog by the ears.

  • God’s names:
  • YAHWEH/JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal
  • Yeshuwa/Iesous – Jesus
  • Hagios Pneuma – Sacred, Holy, Violent Wind, Breath, Spirit
  • Theos – Supreme Divinity
  • God’s character:
  • Peace

Taking a dog by the ears is inhumane. Stepping into a quarrel you shouldn’t is the same. You can find yourself in a world of trouble you didn’t want or need. You can get hurt or worse — killed for meddling.

Solomon lived in a time when a person didn’t need an excuse to start trouble, and getting involved in a quarrel often ended in death. He simply told people to step away and not get involved in something that doesn’t concern them. He told the people that just like they wouldn’t harm their dog, they shouldn’t get mixed up in something that doesn’t affect them.

His father, David, told the people to depart from evil and do what was right.

Psalm 37:27 Depart from evil and do good; and dwell forevermore.

Psalm 34:14 Depart from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it. 15 The eyes of YAHWEH are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their cry. 16 The face of YAHWEH is against those who do evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth. 17 The righteous cry out, and YAHWEH hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles.

Solomon was a man of peace; he told the people what his father told the people — it was better to live in peace. YAHWEH will always take care of His own when people come against them without cause. A person that meddles in someone else’s fight, is a person YAHWEH will destroy.

Yeshuwa told the people they were to live in peace with one another.

Matthew 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called sons of Theos.

Paul taught the people they were to live peaceably with one another.

Romans 12:18 If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men. (NKJV)

When you live peaceably with others you also display the fruit of the Hagios Pneuma.

Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the Pneuma is love, joy, peace, long suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

There is every reason for you to live in peace with others instead of meddling in something that is none of your business.

Let’s pray: Father, help me to live in peace with the people I live with and meet every day. Help me to walk away from a quarrel and not get involved in it. Show me the way of peace in my life. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
