Day 231 – Transformed

Proverbs 26:24 He who hates, disguises it with his lips, and lays up deceit within himself; 25 When he speaks kindly, do not believe him, for there are seven abominations in his heart; 26 though his hatred is covered by deceit, his wickedness will be revealed before the assembly.

• God’s character:
• Kindness
• Rock

You know them, you knew them the day you started school whether it was Kindergarten or Pre-K. Those kids who said things to puff themselves up, but never anyone else. The ones who butted in the line when it was time to go out for recess or lunch. The ones in the workplace who brag about everything in their lives and show total disinterest when you start to tell them about your achievements. The only person they love is themselves. They don’t care about anyone else and if they make a suggestion to you about your work or what you should do on your vacation, you know they aren’t interested in you.

Solomon dealt with many people both as the king of Israel and as an employer for his vineyards. He saw the manipulation they displayed with others and how they bragged about their achievements. He told the people there were seven abominations in their hearts that YAHWEH counted against them.

Solomon learned about the deceitfulness of people from his father, David, and heard his prayers to keep him safe from them.

Psalms 28:1 (A Psalm of David.) To You I will cry, O YAHWEH my Tsuwr: Do not be silent to me, lest, if You are silent to me, I become like those who go down to the pit. 2 Hear the voice of my supplications when I cry to You, when I lift up my hands toward Your holy sanctuary. 3 Do not take me away with the wicked and with the workers of iniquity, who speak peace to their neighbors, but evil is in their hearts. 4 Give them according to their deeds, and according to the wickedness of their endeavors; give them according to the work of their hands; render to them what they deserve. 5 Because they do not regard the works of YAHWEH, nor the operation of His hands, He will destroy them and not build them up.

Elohiym told His people what He would do to deceitful people.

Jeremiah 9:1 Oh, that my head were waters, and my eyes a fountain of tears, that I might weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people! 2 Oh, that I had in the wilderness a lodging place for travelers; that I might leave my people and go from them! For they are all adulterers, an assembly of treacherous men. 3 “And like their bow they have bent their tongues for lies. They are not valiant for the truth on the earth. For they proceed from evil to evil, and they do not know Me,” says YAHWEH. 4 “Everyone take heed to his neighbor, and do not trust any brother; for every brother will utterly supplant, and every neighbor will walk with slanderers. 5 Everyone will deceive his neighbor and will not speak the truth; they have taught their tongue to speak lies; they weary themselves to commit iniquity. 6 Your dwelling place is in the midst of deceit; through deceit they refuse to know Me,” says YAHWEH. 7 Therefore, thus says YAHWEH of Tsaba: “Behold, I will refine them and try them; for how will I deal with the daughter of My people? 8 Their tongue is an arrow shot out; it speaks deceit; one speaks peaceably to his neighbor with his mouth, but in his heart, he lies in wait. 9 Should I not punish them for these things?” says YAHWEH. “Should I not avenge Myself on such a nation as this?”

Elohiym does not tolerate deceitfulness from anyone.

When you accepted Yeshuwa as Soter and Kurios, what kind of person were you? Did you think only of yourself, or did you think about others first?

Do you only show an interest in the needs of the body of Christos when it lines up with your personality? Or did you recognize the kind of person you were and committed to change?

There are as many deceitful Christians as there are deceitful non-Christians. Change isn’t easy when you’ve focused on yourself your entire life. But with Yeshuwa’s help you can make the change.

Paul, in his letter to the Romans, addressed this issue and told them they needed to transform to those traits that are acceptable to Theos.

Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of Theos, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to Theos, which is your reasonable service. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of Theos. 3 For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as Theos has dealt to each one a measure of faith.

Do you live a transformed life? Has Yeshuwa renewed you so that you think of others instead of yourself?

Let’s pray: Father, help me live with others in mind before I think about myself, putting others first and the needs of the body of Christ. Transform my life so that I always please You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
