Day 233 – Truth

Proverbs 26:28 A lying tongue hates those who are crushed by it, and a flattering mouth works ruin.

When I think about liars, the first people that come to mind are politicians. They tell people what they want to hear. They flatter them with words that will get them elected to office. As soon as they’re elected, their true nature comes out, and people see that they had no intention of honoring what they said. Politicians don’t love people; they love to crush their hopes and dreams to keep their own alive.

No one knew the heart of a liar more than Solomon who dealt with kings and heads of state all the time. He heard the words they said, and he knew the source of those words. Solomon was a man of words as you know he wrote this book of Proverbs and instructed the people in what YAHWEH said through the Law.

Solomon opened the book of Proverbs with instruction and purpose.

Proverbs 1:1 The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel: 2 To know wisdom and instruction, to perceive the words of understanding, 3 to receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, judgment, and equity; 4 to give prudence to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion— 5 A wise man will hear and increase learning, and a man of understanding will attain wise counsel, 6 to understand a proverb and an enigma, the words of the wise and their riddles. 7 The fear of YAHWEH is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction. 8 My son, hear the instruction of your father, and do not forsake the law of your mother; 9 for they will be a graceful ornament on your head, and chains about your neck.

To know — When you know YAHWEH’S law, you cannot be a liar because you know the truth and His truth lives in you. Solomon knew that and lived by it as you can see from his life. Was Solomon perfect? You know he wasn’t. He slipped, but he returned to YAHWEH and the truth he learned from his father and from the Law.

What kind of person were you when you became a Christian? Was your goal to deceive as many people as you could? Or was your life an honest one before and after you accepted Yeshuwa as Soter and Kurios?

As Christians, you have been given the discernment of the Hagios Pneuma to know the truth when you hear it.

Yeshuwa said you would know the truth, and it would set you free.

John 8:31 Then Iesous said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. 32 And you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.”

Pilot struggled with truth.

John 18:37 Pilate therefore said to Him, “Are You a king then?” Iesous answered, “You say rightly that I am a king. For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.” 38 Pilate said to Him, “What is truth?” And when he had said this, he went out again to the Jews, and said to them, “I find no fault in Him at all.

From time to time everyone struggles with truth. It doesn’t mean they’re liars or are listening to lies. It means they know how to discern truth and try to live by the truth.

Yeshuwa confronted the people about who their true father was.

John 8:42 Iesous said to them, “If Theos were your Pater, you would love Me, for I proceeded forth and came from Theos; nor have I come of Myself, but He sent Me. 43 Why do you not understand My speech? Because you are not able to listen to My word. 44 You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it. 45 But because I tell the truth, you do not believe Me.

When you open your Bibles and read what Elohiym says in His Word, you will know the truth. It’s written on every page from Genesis to Revelation.

Let Yeshuwa’s Word live in you today, so that the devil of all lies doesn’t have a way into your heart.

Let’s pray: Father, let Your Word and truth live in my heart so I will know when Satan tries to deceive me with his lies. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
