My best tip for budget travel – Only travel when you can afford it. Don’t travel if the only means of travel is a credit card. Credit cards eat up your money in fees if you don’t pay it off in a timely manner. Then you are stuck with credit card debt. That isn’t efficient budget travel.

Save for your trip. Use a debit card if you’re going to use any card for your trip. It comes directly from your account and you’re not subject to fees. It also gives you peace of mind because you won’t have a credit card bill coming as soon as you get home from your travel destination.

That’s my tip and one I live by. I don’t have credit card debt.
