Newspapers, media of every kind shout about the evil going on in the world. Parents and educators do their best to teach their children right from wrong and to stay away from those things that tempt an unsuspecting person. Yet too often even the wisest person can fall prey to temptation if they’re not careful while those who don’t care about right and wrong go through life with a devil-may-care attitude and receive punishment for their actions.

Solomon was the wisest person of his time. When asked, he told YAHWEH to give him wisdom to rule the nation of Israel. It should have been enough, and for a time it was. However, his many wives led him astray and he went down the path that took him away from Elohiym.

1 Kings 3:5 At Gibeon YAHWEH appeared to Solomon in a dream by night; and Elohiym said, “Ask! What shall I give you?” 6 And Solomon said, “You have shown great mercy to Your servant David my father, because he walked before You in truth, in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart with You; You have continued this great kindness for him, and You have given him a son to sit on his throne, as it is this day. 7 Now, O YAHWEH my Elohiym, You have made Your servant king instead of my father David, but I am a little child; I do not know how to go out or come in. 8 And Your servant is in the midst of Your people whom You have chosen, a great people, too numerous to be numbered or counted. 9 Therefore, give to Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people, that I may discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge this great people of Yours?” 10 The speech pleased Adonay, that Solomon had asked this thing. 11 Then Elohiym said to him, “Because you have asked this thing, and have not asked long life for yourself, nor have asked riches for yourself, nor have asked the life of your enemies, but have asked for yourself understanding to discern justice, 12 behold, I have done according to your words; see, I have given you a wise and understanding heart, so that there has not been anyone like you before you, nor will any like you arise after you. 13 And I have also given you what you have not asked: both riches and honor, so that there will not be anyone like you among the kings all your days. 14 Then, if you walk in My ways, to keep My statutes and My commandments, as your father David walked, then I will lengthen your days.”

Solomon had wisdom. Instead of using it when he married his many wives, he allowed them to lead him away from Elohiym. His life wasn’t completely lost because in the end he returned to YAHWEH and wrote the proverbs to show what he learned and how to keep people from following him and he told the people the most important thing they could do for themselves.

Ecclesiastes 12:1 Remember now your Bara’ in the days of your youth, before the difficult days come, And the years draw near when you say, “I have no pleasure in them” — 13 Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear Elohiym and keep His commandments, for this is man’s all. 14 For Elohiym will bring every work into judgment, including every secret thing, whether good or evil.

When you said yes to Yeshuwa as your Soter and Kurios, you also committed your life to obedience to Him. It isn’t easy to change your entire life overnight. It’s a process but in time, the temptations of life will become dim. You will see how infested your life was when Satan was in control.

If you know the old songs of faith, you are familiar with the words trust and obey for there’s no other way to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.

You’re not alone in your walk with Yeshuwa. He’s beside you to light the way.

Psalm 119:105 NUN. Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.

Psalm 119:11 Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You!

Yeshuwa told His disciples what would happen if they obeyed Him and the consequences of disobedience.

John 15:1 “I am the true vine, and My Pater is the vinedresser. 2 Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. 3 You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. 4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me. 5 I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. 6 If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. 7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it will be done for you. 8 By this My Pater is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.

Trust and obey is easier said than done. You can only follow Him and do His will if you read your Bible daily, spend time at His feet, listening to His Word as taught by a true minister of the Word who will not lead you astray with false doctrine. When you seek His face and do His will the things of earth will grow strangely dim by the light of His glory and grace.

What do you need to change in your life so that people will see the wisdom of Yeshuwa in your life instead of the folly of the world?

Let’s pray: Father, let Your wisdom flow through everything I say and do. Let Your light draw people to You so they can throw off the glamor of the world and walk in Your love. Let me hide Your Word in my heart so deep that when faced with temptation it springs up and confronts evil and casts it away from me. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
