Day 244 – Patience

Proverbs 27:14 He who blesses his friend with a loud voice, rising early in the morning, it will be counted a curse to him.

Are you an early riser? Do you message friends as soon as possible, and find a bleary-eyed friend who hasn’t had their first cup of coffee yet? They won’t look kindly at you, and it will affect your friendship.

Solomon was not only the king of Israel, but he was also a landowner and entrepreneur by today’s standards. He had friends who were loyal, and he had the ‘yes’ man friends — those who did everything they could to get into his good graces, not realizing they brought a curse on themselves when they approach him before he comes from his chamber. He told the people not to be one of those people; it would only bring a curse on them.

Proverbs 10:19 In the multitude of words sin is not lacking, but he who restrains his lips is wise.

Solomon showed the wisdom of silence.

There are many eager Christians who want to show their service to their churches, Bible study groups, and want to let people know what they learned as soon as they learn it. They find people don’t want to talk to them and they don’t understand why.

James told the people they needed to be slow to speak, to listen more.

James 1:19 So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath; 20 for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of Theos. 21 Therefore, lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. 22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; 24 for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. 25 But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.

As followers of Yeshuwa, we all want His blessings in our lives. The best way to receive blessings is to wait until a proper time to approach another Christian, offer your service to the body of Christos, and let Yeshuwa lead you in everything you do. Only then will you bring His blessings and not a curse.

Let’s pray: Father, help me to wait for Your timing and not rush ahead with everything I know. Lead me, Lord, and I will know Your blessings in my life. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
