Day 247 – Faithful

Proverbs 27:18 Whoever keeps the fig tree will eat its fruit; so he who waits on his master will be honored.

When you were in grade school, your teacher asked you what you wanted to be when you grew up. Most of the answers were glamorous. Nobody picked the assembly line jobs, or janitorial jobs. Yet people need to do those jobs also. No one said they would do the housekeeping jobs, yet without those jobs, the businesses would crumble. People need to be as faithful in the menial jobs as they are in jobs that bring them prestige. Every job you do brings honor, no matter how inglorious it is.

Solomon had many servants who attended to him in every capacity. When the queen of Sheba saw how he conducted himself in person, she had no spirit left in her.

1 Kings 10:1 Now when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon concerning the name of YAHWEH, she came to test him with hard questions. 2 She came to Jerusalem with a very great retinue, with camels that bore spices, very much gold, and precious stones; and when she came to Solomon, she spoke with him about all that was in her heart. 3 So Solomon answered all her questions; there was nothing so difficult for the king that he could not explain it to her. 4 And when the queen of Sheba had seen all the wisdom of Solomon, the house that he had built, 5 the food on his table, the seating of his servants, the service of his waiters and their apparel, his cupbearers, and his entryway by which he went up to the house of YAHWEH, there was no more spirit in her. 6 Then she said to the king, “It was a true report which I heard in my own land about your words and your wisdom. 7 However, I did not believe the words until I came and saw with my own eyes; and indeed, half had not been told me. Your wisdom and prosperity exceed the fame of which I heard. 8 Happy are your men and happy are these your servants, who stand continually before you and hear your wisdom!

Solomon knew YAHWEH gave him faithful people to do the work necessary to keep the kingdom running.

What kind of work do you do? You might have been the one who turned in a paper to your teacher about the glamorous job you wanted to do, but instead, you’re a waitress who spends ten to twelve hours on her feet, or an assembly line worker, or janitor. Whatever work you do, when you give your work to Yeshuwa and determine to do your work to the best of your ability, He will honor you.

Yeshuwa told His disciples that if they served Him, then Abba would honor him.

Joh 12:26 “If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also. If anyone serves Me, him My Pater will honor.

1 Corinthians 10:31 Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of Theos.

Yeshuwa will honor you if you honor Him in everything you do, even menial labor.

Let’s pray: Father, many times in my life I complained about my work. I did not honor You with the work You gave me. Forgive me for complaining and help me to be faithful in the work You called me to do. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
