Day 250 – Work

Proverbs 27:21 The refining pot is for silver and the furnace for gold, and a man is valued by what others say of him.

• Yeshuwa/Iesous – Jesus

Do you know people who think they are the best at what they do? They don’t compare themselves to anyone because no one else can do what they can. I’m sure a couple of people came to mind.

As king, Solomon met people every day who lauded their work. He said that just as silver and gold are refined by fire, so too is the person who thinks of himself more highly than he ought. He knew the only people who were a blessing to others were the ones who gave the credit for everything they did to YAHWEH.

You can see by Solomon’s life, that he looked to YAHWEH for everything, especially the wisdom to rule Elohiym’s people.

1 Kings 3:7 “Now, O YAHWEH my Elohiym, You have made Your servant king instead of my father David, but I am a little child; I do not know how to go out or come in. 8 And Your servant is in the midst of Your people whom You have chosen, a great people, too numerous to be numbered or counted. 9 Therefore, give to Your servant an understanding heart to judge Your people, that I may discern between good and evil. For who is able to judge these great people of Yours?” 10 The speech pleased Adonay, that Solomon had asked this thing.

When you became a Christian, you knew how worthless you were when you knelt before Him. You knew Yeshuwa was the only one who could transform your life into something meaningful for His glory.

Many Christians forget their low estate when they became a Christian and committed everything to Yeshuwa’s hand. They started taking credit for the work they did for Him.

Paul told the Corinthian church how they should build their lives.

1 Corinthians 3:11 For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Iesous Christos. 12 Now if anyone builds on this foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw, 13 each one’s work will become clear; for the Day will declare it, because it will be revealed by fire; and the fire will test each one’s work, of what sort it is. 14 If anyone’s work which he has built on it endures, he will receive a reward. 15 If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.

When you build your life on Yeshuwa’s foundation, you won’t take credit for the work He does through you.

Peter also showed what your trials do.

1 Peter 1:6 In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, 7 that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Iesous Christos, 8 whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory, 9 receiving the end of your faith — the salvation of your souls.

Paul told the Romans not to think of themselves more highly than they ought.

Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of Theos, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to Theos, which is your reasonable service. 2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of Theos. 3 For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as Theos has dealt to each one a measure of faith. 4 For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, 5 so we, being many, are one body in Christos, and individually members of one another.

We all have work to do for Yeshuwa. When you give Him credit for your work, you bring honor and praise to Him in everything you do and He will bless you. However, when you take the credit, honor, and glory to yourself, your work will come to nothing.

Give your work to Yeshuwa. Let Him put your work in the fire. Then you will see your value before Yeshuwa because everything you do is for Him.

1 Corinthians 10:31 Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of Theos.

Let’s pray: Father, You know my life and motives better than me. Refine me in Your furnace as silver and gold. Let my work be to Your glory. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
