Day 253 – Forgiveness

Proverbs 28:1 The wicked flee when no one pursues, but the righteous are bold as a lion.

• Theos – Supreme Divinity
• Christos – Anointed One, Messiah

• Parakletos – Intercessor, Counselor, Comforter, Advocate

• God’s character:
• Righteous
• Understanding
• Advocate
• Propitiation

The first time you disobey your parents you’re always looking over your shoulder. You survey your surroundings to make sure nobody saw what you did. If you don’t get caught, you become bolder, until the only thing you’re doing is running from every hint that you’re going to be caught. People who don’t want to get into trouble have nothing to worry about.

Solomon had many brothers and sisters, people who worked for him in the palace, and on his properties. He saw his brothers’ manipulations and usurpations for the throne of their father. He heard the fawning in his courts from those who thought they could deceive him. He knew the only time a person didn’t flee from someone was when they put their trust in YAHWEH to direct their lives.

Proverbs 3:5 Trust in YAHWEH with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. 7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear YAHWEH and depart from evil.

Man is sinful. Every day Satan tempts you to sin. It might seem harmless, it might not, but if you give into the temptation, you start looking over your shoulder. When you accepted Yeshuwa as Soter and Kurios, you asked Him to forgive you of all your past sins when Satan controlled your life. You vowed to change. It worked for a little while, but then, temptation surfaced and you found yourself right back in the same patterns as before you committed your life to Yeshuwa.

Psalm 14:1 (To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David.) The fool has said in his heart, “There is no Elohiym.” They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none who does good. 2 YAHWEH looks down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there are any who understand, who seek Elohiym. 3 They have all turned aside, they have together become corrupt; there is none who does good, no, not one.

No matter how hard you try to remain faithful to your commitment, you will sin.

Paul further illustrates the sinful nature of man.

Romans 3:10 As it is written: “There is none righteous, no, not one; 11 There is none who understands; there is none who seeks after Theos. 12 They have all turned aside; they have together become unprofitable; there is none who does good, no, not one.” 13 “Their throat is an open tomb; with their tongues they have practiced deceit”; “The poison of asps is under their lips”; 14 “Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness.” 15 “Their feet are swift to shed blood; 16 destruction and misery are in their ways; 17 and the way of peace they have not known.” 18 “There is no fear of Theos before their eyes.”

Your life looks hopeless until you remember that Yeshuwa is forgiving.

Romans 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of Theos,

Romans 5:8 But Theos demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christos died for us.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of Theos is eternal life in Christos Iesous our Kurios.

1 John 2:1 My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Parakletos with the Pater, Iesous Christos the righteous. 2 And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world.

When you sin, you can go to Yeshuwa, confess your sin, and he will forgive you. It’s both His promise and His guarantee.

1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. (NKJV)

Stop looking over your shoulder. Confess your sin and receive His forgiveness today.

Let’s pray: Father, I know I am a sinner. Every day Satan tempts me and every day I must lean on You and not my understanding. Forgive me and shelter me under Your wings from every thought that causes me to sin against You. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
