Day 257 – Integrity
Proverbs 28:6 Better is the poor who walks in his integrity than one perverse in his ways, though he is rich.
- God’s names:
- YAHWEH/JEHOVAH – Self-existent, Eternal
- Elohiym – Supreme God
- Yeshuwa/Iesous – Jesus
- Christos – Anointed One, Messiah
- God’s character:
- Honor
- Wisdom
Have you ever noticed that poor people are happier than those who are rich? Poor people don’t worry about someone stealing from them. However, it goes deeper than that. A person of integrity is worth more than all the rich people who live by their wits to con a person out of whatever means they have to live an honest life.
Solomon was a man of wealth. He was the richest person alive. Yet when he penned this proverb, it shows that he penned it from experience. He said he tried everything to find happiness. He even strayed away from YAHWEH through his many wives. Riches isn’t everything when you don’t hold onto your integrity as Solomon learned.
Ecclesiastes 1:12 I, the Preacher, was king over Israel in Jerusalem. 13 And I set my heart to seek and search out by wisdom concerning all that is done under heaven; this burdensome task Elohiym has given to the sons of man, by which they may be exercised. 14 I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and indeed, all is vanity and grasping for the wind. 15 What is crooked cannot be made straight, and what is lacking cannot be numbered. 16 I communed with my heart, saying, “Look, I have attained greatness, and have gained more wisdom than all who were before me in Jerusalem. My heart has understood great wisdom and knowledge.” 17 And I set my heart to know wisdom and to know madness and folly. I perceived that this also is grasping for the wind. 18 For in much wisdom is much grief, and he who increases knowledge increases sorrow.
It is more important to live a life of integrity than to run after riches and wealth and live a perverse life in everything you do.
As Christians, you want to honor Yeshuwa in everything you do. Yet you see Christians running after wealth and doing so in the name of Yeshuwa. How does that happen? How can a Christian live a perverse life? The same way Solomon did. He went searching for it. When Christians look for ways to fill their pockets instead of their hearts with Yeshuwa’s Word, when they see Yeshuwa’s Word as an avenue of revenue, they will do whatever it takes to tell people they need to do something extra to obtain wealth.
You know the people I’m talking about. Those televangelists who know how to preach a good word, but they also know how to line their pockets. Their programs show twenty minutes of teaching and ten minutes of do this and I’ll send you and because you like the teaching, you send the money for the hope that not only will you gain more knowledge in Yeshuwa Christos, but you will also gain the wealth they promise.
Life in Christos doesn’t work that way. You can’t become wealthy by giving someone what you have. The only way to become wealthy is by reading and studying Yeshuwa’s Word. Letting it dive deep into your heart and soul and living according to what you learn. When you do, Yeshuwa will bless you with everything you need.
Matthew 6:33 “But seek first the kingdom of Theos and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
Philippians 4:19 And my Theos will supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christos Iesous.
The best thing you can do for your life as a Christian is to let Yeshuwa lead you on the path of righteousness. Then no matter whether you are rich or poor, your integrity will anchor your life in Yeshuwa Christos.
Let’s pray: Father, anchor my life in Your Word, let it sink deep into my heart and soul so that I do not stray from You but live my life with integrity and not by what I can gain through perverse means. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
