Have you been told that your actions reflect on your parents? I always wondered how whatever I did would reflect on them. Since then, I’ve heard people say that a person’s misbehavior shows the parents did a poor job of raising their children. In the same way a person’s good behavior showed good upbringing.

Solomon had several brothers and sisters. At least two of them showed poor discernment when it came to their actions and in both cases their actions cost them their lives. This experience showed Solomon it was better to be a wise and discerning son than to be a companion of fools.

Proverbs 2:1 My son, if you receive my words, and treasure my commands within you, 2 so that you incline your ear to wisdom, and apply your heart to understanding; 3 yes, if you cry out for discernment, and lift up your voice for understanding, 4 if you seek her as silver, and search for her as for hidden treasures; 5 then you will understand the fear of YAHWEH, and find the knowledge of Elohiym. 6 For YAHWEH gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding; 7 He stores up sound wisdom for the upright; He is a shield to those who walk uprightly; 8 He guards the paths of justice and preserves the way of His saints. 9 Then you will understand righteousness and justice, equity and every good path.

Solomon had a good example in his father who did everything with direction from YAHWEH. His many proverbs show the discernment he grew up with and the wisdom he gleaned from obedience.

What was your life like before you turned your life over to Yeshuwa as Soter and Kurios? Did you display wisdom and discernment in everything you did, or did you learn the hard way through the school of hard knocks?

Wisdom, discernment, knowledge, and understanding are not instinctive in a person’s life from the moment they’re born. You need to learn those behaviors. When you became a Christian, you found those traits were found in Yeshuwa and given by the Hagios Pneuma. And you needed to put them into practice so they would become instinctive to your everyday life.

1 Corinthians 12:4 There are diversities of gifts, but the same Pneuma. 5 There are differences of ministries, but the same Kurios.

6 And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same Theos who works all in all. 7 But the manifestation of the Pneuma is given to each one for the profit of all: 8 for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Pneuma, to another the word of knowledge through the same Pneuma, 9 to another faith by the same Pneuma, to another gifts of healings by the same Pneuma, 10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. 11 But one and the same Pneuma works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.

Romans 12:4 For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, 5 so we, being many, are one body in Christos, and individually members of one another. 6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith; 7 or ministry, let us use it in our ministering; he who teaches, in teaching; 8 he who exhorts, in exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness. 9 Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil. Cling to what is good. 10 Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another; 11 not lagging in diligence, fervent in spirit, serving the Lord; 12 rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer; 13 distributing to the needs of the saints, given to hospitality.

When you display the gifts of the Hagios Pneuma in your life, people will know you are a Christian. Yeshuwa told His disciples how people would know they belong to Him.

John 13:34 “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” (NKJV)

Your life is on display to the world. When you live your life according to the Word of Elohiym, people will connect you to Yeshuwa just like people connected you to your parents when you were growing up. Your actions reflected on your parents. Your actions as a Christian reflect on Yeshuwa.

What do your actions say about you?

Let’s pray: Father, let everything I say and do reflect my love and obedience to You as my Lord and Savior. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

May God richly bless you as you reflect the love and Jesus Christ in your life to everyone you meet.
