You’ve heard the saying: Ignorance is bliss. When you refuse to acknowledge the laws of the country, state, or even your workplace, what you don’t know can get you in trouble with the law and get you fired from your job, making the statement — ignorance is bliss — a curse on your life instead of a blessing.
Solomon knew the Law. As king, he was commanded to read it daily. Whether he did or not, we don’t know. Some of his actions would show he turned away from YAHWEH for a season when he worshiped his wives false elohiyms. It was in returning to YAHWEH that he could write this proverb because he learned that while he didn’t worship Elohiym, even his prayers were an abomination to Him.
Solomon knew it was a sin to turn away from YAHWEH.
Psalm 66:18 If I regard iniquity in my heart, Adonay will not hear.
As Christians, you want Yeshuwa to hear your prayers. Yet many Christians don’t pray, they don’t seek His face, and when they do pray, they believe Yeshuwa will hear them.
Why would Yeshuwa listen to a prayer from someone who doesn’t read His Word, doesn’t go to church unless it’s a holiday, or they want to impress someone by attending?
When you committed your life to Yeshuwa, you committed to a life of obedience to His Word. You can’t know what Yeshuwa requires if you don’t read His Word. Ignorance isn’t bliss when it comes to obedience to Elohiym’s Word.
Elohiym’s Word requires sacrifice and obedience.
2 Chronicles 7:14 “if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. (NKJV)
Micah 6:8 He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does YAHWEH require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your Elohiym?
Romans 12:1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of Theos, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to Theos, which is your reasonable service.
2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of Theos.
Before you became a Christian, your life was much different. But when you accepted Yeshuwa, you put on the mantle of Christos.
Titus 3:3 For we ourselves were also once foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving various lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful and hating one another. 4 But when the kindness and the love of Theos our Soter toward man appeared, 5 not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us, through the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Hagios Pneuma, 6 whom He poured out on us abundantly through Iesous Christos our Soter, 7 that having been justified by His grace we should become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
You cannot become an heir if you don’t open your Bible and get to know the Person you committed your life to. When you do, then Yeshuwa will hear your prayers, and they won’t be an abomination to Him.
Let’s pray: Father, thank you for Your Word which shows me what You require of me. Hear me when I pray because I love Your Word and I have hidden it deep in my heart and soul so that I don’t sin against You and You will hear me when I pray. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
